I received a 5 pack of Don Tomas Cameroon Collection Perfectos from CBID. I tried smoking the first two and both tasted sour and then plugged about 1-1/2 inch in. Has anyone else had this problem and can I fix it? The are pretty cigars to look at, but I would also like to use them.

how long ago did you recieve the cigars, often they ship them very wet and if not given enough time for the humidity to stabalize, usually 1-2 weeks in the humi, in my experience, wet ones will smoke very sour. You can try gently rolling a plugged cigar between your thumg and index finger. This may loosen it up some.
I'm sorry to hear that I found these to be quite pleasant. I would even go as far as to compare them to a hemmingway. Although not quite as smooth, and definately not as well constructed they have similar flavor profiles and the Don Tomas is 1/3 the price.

I did smoke them within 1 week of receiving them. Maybe htey are better now, 4 months later.

just smoked my third Don Tomas Cameroon. It was was of the best cigars I've had in awhile, for the first 2/3. Instantly, it turned sour and I pitched it.

It's rare that you'll ever find a plugged Don Tomas, Astral, Helix, or any other cigar produced by U.S. Tobacco. While they are hecho e mano they are not totalamente e mano; hand made, but not totally hand made. When U.S Tobacco's cigars are bunched, a machine called a liberman is used. It is basically a manually operated buncher/molder that is used to gather the tobacco into its cigar shape. It virtually eliminates the possibility that the tobacco will be twisted within the bunch causing a plug. If draw was tight and sour, there is little doubt that it was over humidified and just needed to be dried to about 68RH.

I've had a few Don Thomas's & never had a bad one myself.
