In the last month or so I have acquired many "rare" or "difficult to find" cigars with seemingly no effort and at great prices. I am not complaining but I am relatively new at cigar "collecting" and it seems odd that every week its either an OpusX or Between the Lines, a few days later its Untold Story, then more OpusX, a couple of good finds in samplers like a CAO Brazilia Gol, then I trade some BTLs for some Cubans and I feel like I have a world class humidor in the course of a month!

Is this as unusual as it feels or is the hype over "rare" cigars just that? My girlfriend is starting to roll her eyes when I come home and say, "Guess what I found!" I can't tell her that these are rare finds...every single week, even I'm starting not to believe it.

So, is this unusual? Am I just a lucky **** this month?

Assuming you are purchasing your cigars in your home town I would say you are lucky to live there......

Let me guess... Some large city on the Eastern side of the US?????

It seems like those BTL's don't make it very far West. I doubt a box will ever make it here to Wichita.

Scottypop;

Yes, you are a "Very, Very, Very" lucky person. I believe that it took me (more than) 5 years to acquire the quality smokes that you have in less than a month. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing...

I am not going to tell you that you owe us an introduction. I am sure that Slim and SteveS will have some "Wonderful" advice for you...

In all seriousness, Welcome to the community and you really do have a humidor to be proud of. Why don't you share a picture or two of it with us!

Regards,

B

Heh, great replies. I really do feel lucky to have found such great cigars. When my Havanas arrive I will post pics of my humidor and my modest collection of excellent cigars.

I also feel lucky to have stumbled onto a great cigar site with an active forum of friendly and knowledgeable herfers.

Unfortunately, my sources are all local - but I would be happy to share them with you if anyone is in the Pittsburgh area.

Also, I am trying to contact whoever is in charge here to see if doing a group buy type thing for Between the Lines would be within the rules of the forum.

Guys, the humi I frequent the most has the best selection of cigars I have ever seen. He keeps a selection of 4-5 different OpusXs in stock...sure you are limited to 2-3/day, but his supply is seemingly endless...it doesn't hurt that he is friends swith Don Carlos though. Also, keeps Hemmingways of all sizes and most of the Don Carlos line too. One thing he isn't high on is Padron...he sells them but doesn't stock many. He spent over $150K just lining his humi with spanish cedar. And to think it's in Baton Rouge, LA. - Havana House of Cigars

Louisiana is huge on cigars!! There are tons of great places where you can catch live jazz or blues and smoke puros.
