Smoked my first one the other night. WOW, is it me or is this one awesome cigar for the money? The draw on this baby was possibly the best I've ever experienced.Nice medium-bodied flavor without a hint of harshness down to the nub. Anybody else tried 'em?

Not yet, but may have to now.. Are these sun grown? On CI, I can only find Occ. Reserve. Is that the same?

The HSG is for Havana Sun Grown. The ones at CI are not sun grown. I won a 5-pack of these on C-BID.

Lowman, there is a conneticut shade and an HSG. The conneticut shade is a very mild smoke, pretty decent IMO, the HSG is full flavored, medium bodied, joy to your smoking senses.

Let's put it this way, if I knew where to get a box I would be ordering one now.

The guys who seem to like the Occiental, certainly would not care for a "mild" cigar--so I assume the ones in CI catalog are the mild guys and not the ones in question!

jazzman, I'm hooked on these! I could smoke 'em every day. Unfortunately others are figuring that out as the bids are steadily increasing.

Oh, by the way guys...

I heard the last shipment of these cigars was loaded with tobacco beetles and everyone who bought them has encountered an infestation of beetles in their humidors.
I STRONGLY recommend that under NO circumstances should anyone purchase these cigars for at least two weeks!!!

Always willing to help... 😉

So do I...hehheh
I like a stronger med to full bodied smoke...However, the Occidental HSGS are the mildest cigar I actually enjoy regularly!...Great smoke..Very rich flavor and aroma...beautiful white billowy smoke...perfect construction...An absolute treat to smoke, kind of like having dessert after a wonderful meal!
Very satisfying smoke!
Now, the regular Occidental line is rather bland IMHO and isn't nearly as enjoyable as the VSG line..It also seems to get harsh fast while the VSG is smooth, rich and has a lonnng enjoyable finish

I think my baste tuds are shot. My Occi HSG torp tasted like straw and had no power at all. The construction and draw were great, but it seemed lightweight and less solid than I prefer. After all these rave reviews I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I'll just let the other 4 rest until I regain my senses.
