Someone pointed out, I think it was Billy, that some of my gars were naked, some were clothed, and others just had their shoes off (tubos with no cap).

This brings up an excellent idea for a tread. It’s an esoteric issue to be sure, one which will spark a debate between some of the grizzled veterans and a yawning “what the f” from others.

I’ve heard from some folks, DON’T LET YOUR GARS (different types) LAY WITH AND RUB UP AGAINST EACH OTHER!! THEY’LL MARRY AND YOU MAY NOT LIKE THEIR PROGENY!!

This crowd is typically very animated so I cap’ed it for effect. They’re all, “YOU’LL BE SORRY!” and “EVEN IF THEY’RE GOOD GARS (i.e., Opus and PAM?) THEY’LL F EACH OTHER UP LIKE TWO REDNECKS IN A STEEL CAGE DEATH MATCH!!

However, I’ve had others who’s opinion I respect very much contradict this emphatically. Indicating no problem with free love, even between different species of gars (disclaimer: with the obvious exclusion of flavored gars like Lars, you know, real men with a **** smoke natural and maduros, and ‘others’ smoke Lars (NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT).

So which is it? Wild intermingling? Partner swapping with reckless abandon? Or conservative Southern Baptist, you stay on your side of the humidor and I’ll stay on mine?

Perhaps over a number of years, you might detect a homogenization effect taking place. I am not keeping any cigars long enough for that to happen. And I do keep like cigars together.

They all age in their own boxes with their own kind long term. My "on deck" table top humidor has about 75 cigars of all types in it. By the time they reach that point, they're going to be smoked in 6 months or less. I can't say I've found any marrying effect in that amount of time. I don't do flavored cigars, so that's not an issue.

Touching cigars are fine, unless you put Acids or Lars Tetens in your dor with other non-aromatic cigars. X

yeah, that was that Venus and Mars allusion. They must remain segregated. I don't smoke um anymore, but there was a time when I "experimented" (I won't say it).

I have stopped worrying about the details. Cello on lies side by side with cello off in my humis. I do keep my better cigars in a separate humidor so the lower classes can't taint them. I don't mind if they taint each other cuz it's all good. X, you know what taint is?

Mine all live together in harmony.

The only thing I've heard (besides keeping the 'scented and flavored' cigars apart), is that you definately want to keep the maduros seperated from the naturals ...

... just as the different blends of fillers and binders will 'marry' after time within a cigar to produce a melded blend of flavors (that's why they age them) ... different cigars kept together for a long period of time will do the same ...

The subtle differences of each particular cigar (that make it unique) will take on the characteristics of their 'dor mates.

Many won't even notice ... but those with the more refined palates will be sorry they did.

I keep all kinds of cigars together hoping they will reproduce. Its never happened yet but I am waiting for my first ERDM Cafe Au Lait or perhaps a Don Diego Baby. Marry the flavors, nah I don't worry about marrige, living together should be enough.

Sammy, I got a box in one of my coolerdors that has random smokes in and has been there for some time. The other day I want through it to see what to smoke. Low and behold? IP 3 kings and Perdomo moments were in there! I didn't put them there......

You would think if you kept the cello on (here we go again) you avoid the problems with keeping maduros and naturals together.

Mean, that is good to hear, I will keep the lid on and let them have some privacy, who knows?
This discussion kind of lends a whole new perspective on the cello on, cello off question. Kinda hard to reproduce when your wearing protection. Maybe cello off is the way to go!!!
