Not what you may have been expecting based on the subject 🙂 Slightly more than a small project, but worth it in the end.

Yeah, the tile floor stays, the shower "was" tile. I'm going to put a fiberglass unit in. It was funny the way the built the darn thing! The floor was a quarter inch lead skirt all the way around (136 lbs of it). With 2" of poured concrete and a layer of tile. On top of that was another 3 inches of poured concrete and a new layer of tile that matched the floor tile. It's a wonder it didn't crack the house in half! Fun fun fun, the joys of home ownership.

Robby,

When you purchase the fiberglass unit, make sure it is ones that comes in sections. The one piece units are usually used in new construction or major remodeling jobs. They are very hard to fit in replacement jobs. Most times when one piece units are used, they are set in place ane the room is finished around it.

Good luck with your project.

You're soooooo right E... I used to work as a designer/salesman for a Kitchen and Bath Remodeling contractor. It's either all or nothing...

Horizontal pipes in floor dry out, hair, dirt, oils, etc. harden... Pipes never flow the same... replace pipes...

Don't forget the wonderboard in the shower area...

Tile floor needs a little touch up... ooops... need new tile floor.. break up old tile and cement, float new cement and retile floor...

While doing tile floor, debris goes down line for toilet... problem with fitting for toilet.. new lead bend...

Let's not even talk about the new 6 section recessed cast iron, radiator...

SORRY ROBBY....

Low

Just Bustin' chops... Hope all goes well

Totally LOL@Butthead!!!

Lowman, don't forget rewiring for the recessed lighting and new fart fan...

The new entry door and/or hardware...

The toilet could be updated...does it match the sink?

How 'bout a new toilet paper holder and towel racks???

Oh, and speaking of sink...new vanity and faucets...

Floorboards...

Drywall texture...

Paint and caulking...

Shower curtain vs enclosed or sliding glass doors...hmmm...

Flooring? Manmade vs natural...

Labor, sweat equity, dust, insanity, fights, dust, money, dust...did I mention dust?

You are in for it!

;)

I guess you "have been there, done that"... huh, E.

When I was in design/sales, we stressed that we had that all included in our price. We told the customer that if they received a price from another contractor that was much lower, THIS is where the contractors get their "add-ons" which jack up the price. We didn't hide it... we spelled everything out.

Low

PS... E... "fart fan"... not for you, I'm sure... :o)
