Where do you buy your seeds if you grow them and when do you start, also what will you be planting? If and when I get off my ass. I'm gonna shoot for 3or4 Habanero plants,3 Jalapeno,3 cherry bomb and a couple-3 banana.I like the pickled cherry and banana peppers for breakfast.I have a couple others picked out as well.I'm also gonna plant 3 or 4 tomato plants and the herbs for salsas and pastas.

This place looks to have a good variety.

We just put in a big seed/transplant order to Seedsavers. They have a great catalog/website and carry rare heirloom varietals.

I'll also purchase a lot from my local nursery grower.

I intend to prep my garden beds this weekend and will likely plant during the 1st-2nd week of March. I kept harvesting hot peppers through Xmas this past season. There are definitely some things I don't miss about MN (although check back with me when I'm pulling weeds in Houston July- Aug weather).

Happy gardening!

Save yourself the hassle of seeds. Go to a place like Orchard Supply and get the already started seedlings. They are really cheap. At Orchard they guarantee them to grow too! They have a very good variety of peppers and tomatoes at the one that I go to.

I have tried seeds from various reputable companies. But I find that even the seedlings from WalMart produce tomatoes about a million times better than the best store bought. I like the beefsteak variety. After having a vegetable garden for some years, I have difficulty eating produce from the grocery.

Best place online with the greatest variety is

http://www.tomatogrowers.com/

Recommend the Jersey Devil, which you can't find anywhere else. And try and top their pepper selection.

I buy the finished product at the Farmer's Market.

(Saves me a fortune in the long run.)

I probably won't plant a Summer garden in Arizona; it's just too damn hot unless you have a sun break, but in the Spring I'll plant.

I planted some habaneros in Texas one year. Of the 3 plants, I pulled up two and gave them away. I simply couldn't use them as fast as they produced. I still had more than enough of those unbelievably hot peppers to pass around every week at work from the one remaining plant. I used them (very, very sparingly) in cooking and to kick up the heat in the jalapenos and banana peppers I canned. Love the hotter variety of banana peppers too.

My neighbor in Escondido was a pepper guy. He canned fresh peaches in brandy with habaneros. What a taste sensation!

"Hillbilly", "Brandywine", "Isis Candy Cherry". and "Blondkopfchen" are growing under lights indoors waiting for warmer weather. All came from tomatofest.com.
