Probably a silly question but what good are us new guys if not to make fun of their silly questions. When going out to golf or sneaking out of the office early, I will typically go ahead and cut a few cigars not knowing how many I might smoke or how many buddies will need a charity stick. I'm often left with 1 or 2 that are cut but might not get smoked for some time so back into the humi they go usually by the next day. Am I in any way destroying my cigars by doing this?

I wouldn't cut a cigar until you're ready to smoke it. The problem that you're gonna have is that they're going to dry out and not age well when placed back in your humidor.

Buy a "cheapie" cutter and put it in your golf bag!!!!!

I've done it many times and haven't noticed any ill effects. Before a long car trip, golf, fishing or a night out I'll pre-cut a few to take along. That way I can keep driving or doing what I'm doing. If some of the cigars don't get smoked they go back in the humidor. Not a big deal at all. They'll smoke fine.

what THL said. Just don't trade any/send any pre cut cigars to anybody....they might suspect you sent them a cigar you already tried to draw on but found it was plugged.

Send ALL pre-clipped cigars to me immediately....etc., etc.

If a cigar is clipped, it seems to me this would help maintain humidity even better, since moister is assessable to both ends of the cigar. Just me thinkin'.

I don't cut them till I'm ready to smoke 'em. Like using my SAK...

I clipped all of my cigars at once last week. Hey, they give you a lifetime gaurntee and I wanted to see if they would stand behind it...And simply because I just love the Rosewood Xikar III.

JK - Carry a cutter or a punch with you on the course is my recommendation. If you have to clip before then stay up a couple extra hours and enjoy the clippings!

You could always save the clipped heads and then if you don't smoke the cigar just glue the head back on.
