Was it the 8-5-8 flor fina sun grown that was posted about a little while ago?? Is it cedar wrapped with a black band at the foot? I think they're pretty scarce.

I got one in my humi... I know Slim raves about them.

Lowman, yes. The cedar wrap with the black toe wrap is a sungroan! I love them! They're even better (Duh!) with a year or so under their belt (got a box sleeping in the ploomidoor)

Love these! Glad you enjoyed that JC.
I'm wondering now if these are the same wrappers used on the VSG. These babies are really dark! Will be looking high and low for more of these!

Smoked my first 8-5-8 SG last night... WOW !! You guys are right. This is a really good 'gar... Smooth taste, never harsh. Burn was even and held a nice solid white ash. Stayed cool down to the nub!! Needed a clip for this one but didn't have one... blisters on fingers... ouch!!
Got 2 more resting in my humi... mmm,mmm good...

Yes, these are amazing. One of the best box splits I've decided to do (whassup, Jerry!). The pre-light aroma of these cigars is amazing. I could just smell it unlit and be very, very happy.

Smokes like a charm as well. Well worth the cash.

Absolutely one of the best I've smoked as well. Sad that that 858 sungrown may be history without a batch set aside for 2003. So it goes.

Low, I split the box with jdr through "that other auction site." We paid retail (~$7/stick) but we got our sticks and I will never look back and say we shouldn't have--simply the best cigar purchase I've made in many years and to know they may never be made again makes these remaining few all that much mo betta!

Hey JD,

I found a place advertising that they have AF 8-5-8 SG for $91.50 + $5 del. I was gonna jump all over that... but of course when I sent an e-mail to check stock... they were out !! :o( What a suprise. He said they won't be getting any more in this year...

jgjam --- which SG's are you referring to ... the Flor Fina 858's?

Today I opened my last box of those treasures ... as much as I hated to do it. It was the one that had the Fuente humipak in it, and I've heard that not many were packaged that way.

I opened them because I was worried about them ... and I couldn't believe how incredibly fresh they were, for being in a zip-lock freezer bag sitting on my shelf for a couple of months! The humipak looked and felt like it was put in there the day before ...

The bad thing ... is not that they are loose in my humidor, I know I won't be able to keep my hands of them!

Slim... yes they are the FF 858s SG with the cedar sleeve and black band. The 6 I purchased were in the standard 858 box but did not have the humipak sticker. Don't know if they are the original box or just an older box that they refilled on the shelf. Send me an email and I will get you the rest of the info.

... email sent.

The 'water drop sticker' is on the shrink wrap on the outside, and is thrown away when opened. Once opened, they probably just digard the humipak also ...

... it's hard to tell, unless you see them open a new box.

What a rare find!

Is there any difference in the cigars in a humi pack box or no humi pack box? X

Absolutely!

Like I said above, they were incredibly fresh ... even though I only had them in a zip-lock freezer bag. They were in that bag for a couple of months!

If I had known how well the humipak worked, I would not have opened the sealed box.
