A cigar smoking friend of mine suggested I try Jack Daniels Single Barrel with my cigars. Anyone have any input on this whiskey? JonR

I know Jack all too well; only visit with him on occasion now and we invite Coke along for the ride. Before Coke came along, Jack and I were "like peas n carrots" and matter of fact; I think Jack loves cigars. Offer him one.

Makers Mark is a much better choice IMHO.

I like a lesser known brand of bourbon. I was reading SPIN magazine about 16 years ago and saw that Keith Richards had nothing but good things to say about Rebel Yell. I figure if it's good enough for a guy like Keith Richards, then what the hell...I'm gonna get ****-faced! You don't need any coke or water with this, just ice!

Happy.

For a real treat try Knob Creek - a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon aged 9 years, smooooooth like honeydew vine water. Especially good with an Oliva "O" Maduro. Yowza.

Jack is Jack and no doubt about it,it's probably the best to mix with coke. Now Bookers there is the bourbon of all bourbons IMO. The house bourbon of the JJ household among others is Elijah Craig 12 yr old,try it I think you'll like it!

That knob creek is smooth, but geeze! It is 100 proof! I had a few glasses of that and a few cigars, and i felt like someone had clubbed me upside the head.

Id have to agree with Makers Mark. Im not a jack fan. Dewars 8 year is good too (not the white label)

Knob Creek is very good, no matter how you drink it, although if you mix it with Coke, I will come to your house and smack you upside the head. I prefer Basil Hayden. Very smooth, sweet and rich.

The only way to drink premium whiskies, is neat. Maybe a slpash of water, none in mine please, with a nice full bodied cigar. Coke is for people who do not enjoy the flavor of whiskey. Use the cigar for your chaser, if you must have one. If you must mix, drink the cheap ****, save your $$$$$ for better cigars.
Just my opinoin.

Agree with Homebrew. Although I don't party with Jack any more, I invite his friends Scotch, Cognac, and Tequila along with their Beer friends. All are "neat" in their appearance--if you gotta mix something with your alcohol, you're drinking the wrong alcohol.

I don't care for the taste of Jack any more so on occasion, if there is nothing of quality around, I'll drink it with cola; at least until I can get to something better. I've not had the Single Barrel so I can't comment on how it tastes neat.

Well thanks alot gentlemen you all gave me alot of excellent whiskeys to choose from, but I am going to try that Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Like my doctor friend said to me it's time for me to put away my orange kool-aid and sterno, and to move up with the big guys. I guess now I'll have to give up my Bad Frogs ( Rick has cornered the Bad Frog market anyway )and move up to Lone Wolfs. Thanks for your help. JonR

OMG!!!!! Don't you dare mix Jack Single Barrel with Coke!!!!!

This stuff is WAY too good to taint it with sugary crap.

YIKES! Not Jack of any kind. Too sweet. If you want to do some Bourbon with your smokes, which I do almost daily, try Blantons. Incredibly smooth. Or Bookers if you like it with some bite, about 120proof bite!
