Looks like you make it correctly. Wine (preferrably a good dry Spanish red) and fruit. I've seen people use fruit juice, white whine, sugar, even (gasp) water!

I quit drinking years ago, but was in Spain before that long enough to get real sangria, poured from a clay pitcher. What most people over here call sangria is better called fruit punch. Kudos to anyone who can get the concept. Nothing else tastes quite like it when it's done correctly.

a couple glugs of cognac for good measure.
