Could someone tell me how a dry cigar smokes due to low humidity? What are the characteristics?
I have some cigars that were kept at 60% and they are really hard to the touch and draw very hard. I was wondering if the low RH caused them to get hard and very hard to draw.

Usually ... a dry cigar will crack or make crunching noises when gently squeezed, or when you gently bite the foot between your teeth. The wrapper itself may have cracks in it already, and will flake or unravel when you smoke it. It will taste hot and harsh ... and may burn unevenly ...

IMHO ... dry cigars are not a pleasure to smoke. to me they lose a lot of thheir flavor ... and taste like yard leaves smell when you burn them.

You must have a very tightly rolled cigar to begin with ... humidity swells the leaves, making them much harder to draw on when they are tightly rolled.

If I have a cigar that is hard to draw ... I will let it sit out for a few hours, and that usually helps it smoke more easily.

Concur with Slim. I generally put cigars in my humi and let them stay there a while as my rotation allows me to do that, especially if I suspect it is over hydrated or a little dry. Keep in mind that these are hand made and roller experience plays a big part.
