This is Nelly. She's my in-laws Basset that they got about two years ago. They got her from Gaurdian Angel Basset Rescue. GABR found her in a field pretty beat up. Then she was adopted by someone, beat, and abandoned again. After all that, she was finally adopted by a loving family and is the most spoiled dog I know 🙂 She doen't make a peep unless excited and has NEVER growled at or bit anyone. Think about a dog thats about four feet long from head to tip tail, four inches off the ground, and 60 pounds! Her favortie hobbies are getting stuck under the back porch, sleeping, eating, sleeping, and sleeping. Just thought I would share.

KC

BTW - this is her trying to look pathetic to get a carrot, her favorite treat.

You know, I just went over there and looked at her collar. I miss spelled her name. It is Nellie. They didn't make up the name, GABR did. They said she seemed to respond to it. But then again, she also responds do walk, treat, and GO GET HER! (I say that to her and she starts running around like a maniac 🙂

Bassithound wife replying. Nellie is a doll. We've gone to a few rescue waddles and picinics. Bassets are the best. It is now 11:45am and our basset is still wrapped in the blankets in bed. Sophie(our dog) is a climber. I almost died the first time I saw her go up the slidingboard steps. The funniest thing was my husband going up and getting her. The 2 slidding down was a riot. They give endless love and joy. Everyone should own a basset.

I have a ****su. His name is LT for "Little Toughy". He's a really cool dog. Tons of personality. He is wrapped a bit tight, but he's just a year old and he'll mellow like a good stogie. He has a cadre of tricks.

1. Sit
2. Lay down
3. Roll over
4. Play Dead
5. Jump
6. Barooow (speak)
7. Dance
8. Sit up
9. Crawl
10. Run it (he runs in a figure 8 between my legs)
11. Stay (treat on the nose) It's tough because he doesn't have much of a snoot!

I'd like to be able to teach him to show his teeth, smile on command? But I'm not sure how to get him to do that. Does anyone have any experience with this? He's a very quick learner.
