Is there a good reason, other than possible shipping advantages to bid $6 on 1 butane refill can when CI sells 2 for $8? I thought this site was supposed to save us $.

There are no guarantees (or claims) written or implied, that this site will save you money ... it's an auction.

You will only get good deals if you do your research, bid wisely ... and most of all ... have patience!

Have you ever been to an auction before? There is always the possibility of someone getting carried away and overbidding.

I used to attend estate auctions all of the time while living in PA and used to see that happen at every auction. Your best bet is to go in with the top dollar you are willing to spend and let that item go if it surpasses your top bid.

Good luck!

Sketcha,

If you ever get a chance go to an estate auction. It really is an event that eveyone should experience at least once in their life.

It's hilarious when you get two women bidding on the same item and they just refuse to lose to "that other" woman.

It's possible that the bidder's may think there are 2 cans in this deal (as pic shows). I know there was a thread about this a while ago. The description says one can. They might have not read the complete desc.

Yeah, I'm no Photoshop Wizard but even I could easily wipe out one of those cans from the photo. I've seen other auctions, lighters and such, with this irregularity. It is the buyers own fault if they don't read carefully, however. I would've liked to pick up a can with this weeks shipment to save a few $s but oh well.

Colibri butane is not very premium in my opinion anyway, and for the same cost you can pick up a can of LAVA which is quintuple refined. LAVA is the best butane available, I've never had a clog in three years with the same lighter!!

Yeah, you're right. I found a 5.3oz. (vs. 3.04 Colibri) can of LAVA for $6.

I buy that same size of Colibri butane locally for $2.99,no shipping. If you do your homework and check around, you will know when to bid and when not to. X

Hoagie - I've always wanted to attend one of those estate auctions, sounds like fun. How do you find them? Is there a web site or some place you go to find them in your area? Just curious.

They're always in the local newspaper. I can get Colibri locally for $4. Not as good as X's price but good enough. No one has LAVA in my area. The site I found it on adds $6.80 for shipping for a $12.80 total for a 5.3oz. can. I think I'll stick with the local shops on this one.

sketcha --- my local tobacconist sells the 13 oz. can KGM Vector triple-refined pure premium butane in their extra value-pack for $7.95 ...

... but I've seen them online at (((link edited by Slimboli))) for $3.50 a can!

Slimboli-Is the Vector better or in the same ballpark as Colibri (Both triple refined)? I dug your link omission BTW. Here's my [email protected]

Triple-refined is triple-refined ... no mater who refines it, IMHO. You can even find quadruple-refined, but that's going a little overboard.

Email will be sent shortly ...

Oh ... get ready for the huge influx of 'trash' email you may get. I don't know if you realize this, but unscrupulous marketers have programs called 'Spam-Bots' that scour internet BB's and forums to collect email addys to add to their lists.

They are alerted by the '@' and '.' ... so it's best to post someone(at)somewhere(dot)com ... or something similar like that. Celver folks have come up with all kinds of variations ...

Thanks. I've been on other forums and had no problems. I guess I just got lucky. I'll be a takin' that advice a' yours. Fortunately that is not my primary email address and is one I can easily drop.

For Colibri, what X said ... I've bought Colibri for years and never paid more than $2.99

That said, I've become a fan of LAVA, thanks to CWilhelmi ... it's more highly refined, plus, a more favorable cost per unit of measure ...

I've never tried Vector, but I like the sound of what Slimboli said ... I might try it

Bottom line: never, ever use Ronson, even if they pay you to take it ... it's lighter poison ... always use at least a triple (or more) refined fluid ...
