Wanted to share a pic of the new floorstand 6 finger ashtray I put together, what ya's think? Constructed of solid cherry and black walnut.
This thing is approx. 24" up from floor and the tray itself is a whopping 11" x 17" or there abouts:) On recommendation I made some metallic rests to overlay the wood slots for possible burn issues. Made them from solid copper but then primed and painted a satin black, just not sure I like it with or without better................

Hey Dan, Glad the B-in-law liked his tray!!
And thanks for topping this. I think I'll take this stand as well as 4-5 table models up to the shop here in Indy.
She's really looking forward to having some to offer her BOTL's.

Thanks brewha!

And for anyone interested, I have 3 table size trays done. One is a two finger, and the other two are four finger. I can send a pic of any of the three.

Steve, they really took away from the look of the tray....offered Roland a set for his as well but he too liked it better without. And all said n done I think the possibility of burns is slim to nill

Joey, I am a residential remodel or / cabinet maker / furniture maker by trade and got started doing these initially as a donation for the Opfth drive here and then made some for BOTL that wanted one of their own. I still have a short list of fellas who wanted one and have NOT forgotten them but have been working out of town for two years and just haven't found the time to work in my home shop. Won't be much longer though and I'll be able to get back @ it.
Thanks for the kind words Beer

You always do top notch work. This is beautiful. How are you going to empty it? I'm not trying to tell you what to do but I'd think about making some kind of removable insert/tray to make it easier to clean up. Just a thought. Beautiful work. Herfing

Thanks Julian....although heavy given it's size the ashtray itself sits on 3/8 dowel pins and lifts off to empty. I need to get back to making some trays....there's a few guys been waiting a while......for that I feel bad. Brick wall

Seriously...why? Surely you could do the math here and discern that the ashing bowl is seperate from the stand itself right? Cuz well it is....Beer

That's one nice looking cigar tray. Great idea!

Think I might need to pull some of my black walnut from the firewood pile and mill it for something like this.

I will keep that in mind my friend, I'll probably generate a few different ones and posting when done. There are a few here that wanted something particular and I've NOT forgotten about them, just been working out of town for the last two years and virtually all my tools are down on the job.....

Dan, you'd be better off buying yourself some Walnut that's been kiln dried and moisture content is correct. But it might be worth a try if you don't mind a little warping / twisting.

Reckless is making me an ashtray table. Guess he bought some tools, and is going to carve an ashtray center outta a slab of waterfall bubinga. Modeled after the sons of anarchy meeting table. Centerpiece will be the smoking smiley in relief. Gonna be awesome.
