I'm a type II diabetic, on the Atkins, my sugar stays below 120 which means I'm not diabetic... It does an excellent job controlling/regulating your blood sugar. My fasting sugar dropped from 200 to below 120 on the diet... When your blood sugar is up, all sorts of nasty things happen ultimately, your feet rot off, your pecker goes limp, your kidneys shut down, you develop heart disease. It's not pleasant. Atkins is a good diet for diabetics.

Down 70 pounds in 6 months. Haven't gained back a thing over the next 12 months. Atkins is a lifestyle not diet.

Atkins is also a good diet to prevent diabetes.

Everything you swallow is your diet.

Atkins does work, but if you stay on it too long, you might as well just inject all that fat and cholesterol directly into your heart. The only way you can make a diet like that your "lifestyle" is to exercise like a demon. The average Innuit diet is about 70% fat, but they burn it off (mostly by shivering, I suspect).

I lost 25 lbs. just by cutting back on the fats, eating smaller portions, upping the fruit and veg's, and getting moderate exercise.
