Wow... I guess I didn't realize how great Texas was...

maybe they should start using that to promote tourism... "Texas.... lots of flat land... and great cigar prices!!!"

Good one, E-Chick. I do not believe you are the "tongue-in-check" type, however.

When the bid goes higher than CI's price, that is just free entertainment, unless you are the overbidder.

That's smart - spend your money on something you do not want. That will teach the other guy!

Well, I see what you mean about certain folks coming in at the last minute.
I bid on one that had a couple hours left. Kept an eye on it, when I bid on it, there were 3 and only one person had bid on it. No problem right??
Some jerk came in and bid up and purchased 2 and knocked me out.
What a load!!!
"I apologize, but to outbid someone for ONE of the item is fair game, but to have one left and all would come out ok and out bid someone knock someone out to be a pig and take 2 is just wrong. TOTALLY WRONG!! "

I resemble that remark!!!! and I was double bidding at the time of the post also... Hell for both items well below fair market value I woulda been Nutts to allow O to overcome!!! ain't like them Items wasn't coming back up on the next Lots at that price or less!!!
btw my Initials are ummmmm JJ from Cali LMAO!!!!

John49,

i'm not saying to run up the bid. Set your autobid to your max that you're willing to pay. If someone else wants to pay more, try again some other day. If someone else wants to pay more and even more than CI, try again some other day and enjoy the laugh. If you're the one paying more....to each his own.

On the first bid I ever made here, I checked prices not only on CIs Website, but on a couple of their competitors as well ... once ot twice in the years since, I've gotten sufficiently caught up in bidding fever that I paid more than I really wanted to, but not once have I paid more than what I could have got something for elsewhere ...

In setting my bids, I consider the cost of shipping as well as the amount I bid, and if I "win" one at the beginning of a week, I watch the auctions more closely and try to bunch my shipments in order to minimize that part of the expense ...

I "lose" perhaps 4 or 5 bids for every one I "win" and consider myself fairly successful in the auctions ... my wife, on the other hand, considers me far TOO successful ...

Hehe! this is funny. Like Slim said, its fair to do whatever the heck you want. There are no rules.

All I know is I get a shipment in every week. I dont have any problems.... :>)

The late bidding doesn't bother me. That's standard auction stuff. What bothers me is EARLY bidding! No one wins any auction until it closes yet you often see people run up the prices shortly after it opens. I guess some folks feel they have to go "wire to wire."

I think sometimes that may work like this,

you bid 20 bux? with an auto-bid of 50? someone else comes along and bids 23 with an auto-bid of 55, then it goes to the second bidder and would show 53? Or something like that...
