Somewhere along the thread I tried to make the point that it simply doesn't need to be explained.

It's like saying "The sky is blue. The grass is green. Just an observation." It's meaningless unless someone chooses to try to draw a connection. The email being forwarded around back then was clearly trying to imply a connection without implicitly stating it for a very simple reason. Once you make an actual statement, you have to be able to defend it. It's much easier to just suggest crap and then run off and say "That's not what I'm saying!!" when you're called out.
