1. Yes there are evil corporations, I’m not employed by one. I prefer to think that the vast majority of them are not in fact run like Enron was. There are evil women to, should men forsake all women for the sake of a few evil ones? What then is the fate of the human race?
2. Do you know why corporations are moving off shore in droves? Here’s a little secret about how our IRS taxes multinational corporations. If you are headquartered in the US and you make and sell goods in the US, you pay taxes in the US. However, if you make goods in South America, and sell those same goods in South America, guess what? You pay taxes in America! We are one of the only countries in the world that structures it’s corporate taxes this way and it’s punitive. If you were a CFO/CEO what would your thoughts be?
3. Pissed off by Fox? DEAL WITH IT! You have; a) CNN, b) CBS, c) ABC, d) MSNBC, not to mention the myriad of “liberal” news papers and hey what about the Oxygen network while we’re at it… Sorry, but your lugubrious wailings about the conservative media conspiracy are simply specious, they don’t wash, that dog won’t hunt.
4. re: your pal, the BJ president and the co-conspirator, there is a big difference between innocent and not guilty. I’m sure you understand the difference. If I kill you, and 3 people witness it, and the government brings a case against me, and suddenly those 3 people meet with untimely deaths themselves, am I now innocent because I can’t be proven guilty? Evidently in the court of Maven, I am…
5. If you run a corporation, you are accountable to the shareholders. What is your objective? To make money? What exactly in a word is wrong with that? If your boss came to you and said, hey, look, you’ve been busting your hump around here, coming in early, staying late, taking work home, going to school to improve your skills, turning out high quality work, helping us win bids, you’ve REALLY been a peak performer and you deserve a promotion and a raise in your salary of 20%. However, if we do that, we’ll have to cut the 6% raise we were going to give to your slacking counterparts back to only 3%.
Do you a) Look shocked, and immediately offer to forgo your deserved and hard earned promotion and raise in deference to your less motivated counterparts? For the good of “the proletariat?”
or b) do you tell your boss, hey, if they want it, let um work for it like I did, and gladly accept you compensation for a job well done?
You’re not REALLY going to expect us to believe A are you? LOL!!!!!! That’s what your saying in so many words with corporations! Just how is it different?
And in the inimitable words of the supporters of Mr. Barry, “The Bitch Set Him Up!” They were COMPLETELY willing to overlook the fact that he was not just Marion, but married and in a cheap hotel with someone he knew was a prostitute smoking crack?? The fact that he was guilty and amoral were “immaterial”, what was important to his “constituents” was the facts surrounding exactly how he was snared, not speaking to the right or wrong of his activities… Amazing!
