65GTOMAN, I remember the GTO quite well. It was a great muscle car & that's why I referred to the Rambler (in marked contrast). I GIVE YOU MY SINCERE APOLOGY & THANK YOU FOR DEFENDING OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

I was never drafted because of my high number (331) in the lottery, but I would have gladly gone. My father was a Navy Captain (physician) & my brother was a leatherneck (sergeant). You veterans made it possible for me to continue my education. My family had money, but I worked my way through school doing a vast number of menial jobs (scrubbing toilets, washing cars, sweeping after carpenters, etc.). I went from living in a large, comfortable house to surviving in some run down apartments with faulty floor-board heating. In the winter, the temps sometimes went down to the 50's in my bedroom. But I knew that through hard work & perseverance, things would get better. Today, I am blessed in many ways- except for my occasional temper...

I overreacted for a number of reasons- some of which are personal & of no concern to anyone. Everything that I have stated in this forum has been truthful and/or humorous (at least I've tried). Who would voluntarily stake public claim to being a founding member of the "Friends of Dan Quayle"? You misinterpreted my comments & have suggested several things:
That I have an attitude- well yes at times- don't you?
That I am a liar- you've unsuccessfully tried to "catch" me several times. This is the worst thing that you can do to a man in "public". If I were a public figure, I would treat it as part of the territory. Otherwise, it's time to put up or shut up.
That I am boastful & a know-it-all. Well I have my moments (my wife will attest to that) but I speak frankly.

Why have you wasted so much of your time obsessively examining my posts under your microscope? Why do you feel that you can call someone a jerk (without knowing them), imply that I am a blowhard (white house visits...), & try to impugn my character (implying I'm a liar) publicly on these boards without my calling you out? Where I come from, these are fighting words.

Like I said, I respect veterans very much. If I had to do it over, I would still take you to task but not as harhly as I did. Better yet, I probably wouldn't have posted anything. I like Rick but he can take care of himself.

I have never been a country club conservative. I believe in all the same things you do- well maybe not NASCAR (although Gibbs is great). However, I cannot defend the socialist agenda that our President is pushing. This President will probably be a one-termer because he (like his father) has taken our conservative votes for granted, while he seeks favor with the Kennedys & Vincente Foxes of the world.

GTO, no need to riposte with snide comments or to question my patriotism further. I'm all talked out. Oh, and I'm not the various people that you claim I am.
