Don't use a backhoe when moving your cigars. Geez. 🙂
I have always removed the cello. I treat my cigars like the valuable items that they are and make sure that they are handled with gentle hands. Keeping the cello on to reduce damage makes no sense to me.
Cello, as per my experience in Colorado, does inhibit the moisture that gets to the cigars. Perhaps in higher humidity areas it is a big deal, but I can certainly tell you it is a problem here.
Humidity, that is the name of the game. Well, that and the fact that I love the wonderful wafts of smells as they come out of the humidor each time I open it to get one out for testing (filtering air through it with a strong burning ember on the end) purposes.
