By the way, my 7 year old son owns three and I almost added another 20GA Thursday, but held off because his next needs to be a deer rifle. I'm considering the 7mm-08. Any thoughts?

I've owned quite a few pistols/rifles, but I have only kept 2 of them.

Browning buckmark .22 (my inexpensive plinking gun)

Marlin 60SB .22 rifle with a bushnell scope for the kid. Got it for his 11th birthday. He is 15 now and shoots both guns VERY accurately.

I got rid of all my others and kept the .22's because the cost of recreational shooting that my son and I do was way too expensive. .22 ammo is very cheap and a .22 will kill you just as dead as any other round.

Wish I had never gotten rid of my Colt Gov't Model and the Ruger Security Six, but I still have a .22 rifle, a Mossberg 12-ga. pump, and a Ruger Redhawk.

My safe comes next week. It's 800 lbs! Holds 10 long guns and is fireproof for an hour!! I considering a machine gun purchase...

Well, I don't collect guns, but have many from when my step-dad died.

If you are hunting deer, I would go with the .270 or 7mm The .270 is lighter than the 7mm by far, but they both shoot a fairly flat, fast shot.

I love guns and also do alot of bird hunting rigth now I own three shot guns , a Benelli , Winchester and a Remington . Want to do some turkey hunting next.Had some hand guns but when I had kids I got rid of them.

The 7mm-08 is a perfect deer rifle for both young and old alike. It is a flat shooting rifle, doe snothave the kick that the 7mm mag does, and can reach out to several hundred yards. I would highly recommend that or the 25.06 for a young person just getting into deer hunting. I have used a 25.06 several seasons and loved it. Unfortunately, I got rid of it this past season. I got the bug for something different and sold the Ruger 25.06. I'm regretting that everytime I think about it. It was the shootingest rifle I've ever owned.

I do a little collecting, but mostly my guns are each used for a specific purpose. Wish I could afford to have guns just to have them.

Been looking for a LC Smith side by side in field grade that is in relatively good shape. No luck so far, but I am going to keep trying.

I have a small, and I mean small, collection of Soviet firearms. Bulgarian Makarov, Romanian SAR-1, and two M-44 carbines. One built up and the other is 1944 with no mods. I have 3 shotguns,too.
