Yes the .222 is a great varmint round with just a touch less range then the .233. but then again even the .223 is pretty much a slam dunk at 200 yds and still effective at 300 if the wind isn't up. The problem with it is that it is almost a pure reload proposition. My buddy an I tend to make sure our primary guns can get feed factory bulk ammo. 1600 rounds in a couple of days translates to a boat load of hours behind the reloading bench.

As my primary I shoot a pretty standard Rem VS 700 .223 with a 4x14 leapold (sp). Other then a new Timmney trigger it is stock.

Last year I had a full blown custom 6mm Bench Rest (6BR) built. 8oz Jewel trigger, Lilja 28" 1/8 twist heavy barrel, Rem 700 action w/ titanium springs and pin, McMillan stock, 8x32 Nightforce benchrest scope. I use this one for long range. I load 90gr Berger behind 32gr V-540 in Lapua brass. I can get 3100fps with a .490 BC bullet. This baby will shoot flat out to almost 400yrds.

Last year was my first year with it and I wasn't that comfortable with it yet. But this year I hope to get my 500yd badge. My longest so far is 396.
