Rich, Rich, Rich, why in the world would this dumb@ss story be inline with the libral way of thinking? Librals don't bash Pat Tillman, rather this article is written by a thoughtless piece of garbage, end of story. I'd be willing to bet that Mr. Gonzales has already had his @ss whipped by now.......as he should.

428, no offense, but I fail to see where being a policeman is sacrificing for Good and Man......it's a job that MANY (not all) people take to satiate their power-trip needs because they don't have the mental capacity to further their education and strive for something better (FBI, Federal Marshals, Secret Service, etc. excluded).

This is not a liberal/conservative thing; however, I will bet the Profs who spoke out about this the loudest are all far left wing people......way to the left!

Many Police Departments are requiring college degrees for the officers now days!

Charlie

PS Pat Tillman had more guts and desire than any collegiate football player I ever saw play! He had long hair stringing from his helment and played linebacker in college when he was the size of the kick returners and defensive backs!!!!!

Obviously, Rene Gonzalez failed to realize that Pat Tillman gave his life defending this country and his right to be an idiot. I hope that in the future Mr. Gonzalez remembers that it is better to think before spouting out BS just to draw attention to himself. I wish Mr. Gonzalez no ill will as long as he learns from his mistake. If he can’t, then I only hope that he is un-justly ridiculed upon his death.

Sonny I disagree with your statement concerning policeman. I think that most police officers go into law enforcement with the best of intentions. Let’s face it. There are a lot of jobs that pay better, have better hours, with less BS, where you don’t get shot at, that are easily attainable. I think that where you encounter most “bad” policeman is when they have become fed-up with the BS of the job. We send a huge double standard to policeman most of the time. “Give us safe streets” and “stop crime at all costs” but “don’t step on anyone’s civil rights”. It would be enough to make me snap. I have great respect for the work that 99% of the police officers do. If it weren’t for the work of my neighborhood policeman when I was a teenager, I’d be doing time right now. He basically gave me an ass kicking when I deserved an ass kicking. It straightened me out.

Ok, Buck, I retract most of the statement as it is unfair to the vast majority of law enforcement.

Charlie, the sheriff's deputies and city police in East Baton Rouge Parish don't have to have ANY college credit to enter the academy......hell, to apply to the state trooper academy all you need is 60 hrs. of college courses passed. I believe law enforcement should require a college degree AND pay more.....that way it would be more conducive to hiring qaulity applicants. Seriously, some of our sheriff's deputies are AWEFUL. However, I still don't buy this community service argument.......they chose to be in law enforcement.
