Good luck with your boycott. But what kind of statement is "I'm not going to buy anything from you today because you charge too much. But I'll be in the following day to fill up."

That isn't a statement and that won't do anything. You want to make a statement? Pick a day that you won't USE any gas and get people to join you.

I said it was the SUV's and certainly there are reasons for having them, but living here in california, I would say that most of the people I see driving SUV's are doing so alone and have no real need for them. I also see a lot of Hummers where I'm at and I have to wonder if there was ever a need for that kind of vehicle on the streets

Many small families live in large houses.
That wastes heating oil.
Yet, there is no outcry against those people.
Why, then, are SUVs so often targeted as the root of evil regarding oil prices?

I'll tell you why.

Because the liberal media has labeled them as such.

And I'd like to email the world to push the boycott off by one day. I've got a local station that advertises "Whacky Wednesday" and lowers their prices by 5 cents.
I can't boycott them.

The point has been made. You have to cut back on usage for this to have any effect. To fill up on the 18th and go about the next day as normal would have very little effect.

too much of a defeatist attitude in the world today; the product of laziness, people these days sound like a kid saying "But why do I have to clean up my room? It's just gonna get messy again anyway..."

*didn't buy gas yesterday, today, and will not tomorrow*

Large pick up trucks also get poor gas mileage. I see plenty of people driving these without hauling anything. Why is there no outcry.

I do have an SUV. I didn't want to get one because they get such bad gas mileage. But we decided to because a) it hauls my band gear around nicely and b) it is great getting around in the winter.

i believe snopes.com has something about this...

i know it's not the first time this has gone round; i saw it a couple years ago when the summer gas prices went up.
