If you had waded through them, you would know that I HAD been a RELIGIOUS, pro-life, right-wing, Republican conservative since Nixon. I had also been somewhat politically active, and a founding member of "Friends of Dan Quayle", etc., etc. ad naseum. The Republican White House "rewarded" me with two invites (only made one). So you're partially wrong.

Must have had an epiphany along the way (in the last 3- 4 years) thanks to Rick, Cavallo, Pat Buchanan, and especially dubya. Their arguments (and dubya's inanities) combined with my life experiences have forced me to reconsider. That's why I'm voting for Kerry/Edwards- Rickamaven talked me outta voting for the sure-fire loser, Nader (or Nadar per Rick).

I still haven't left the flock completely just straddling the ideological fence for a while (moderate/independent?). Comprendes?

Oh, and I still yawn at the thought of the Olympics.

Yes Blood...I have seen the changes throughout your posts.
I just cannot see living one's life worried that the sky will fall...or country will collapse..or terrorists will take over.

I really doubt that will happen any time soon or even later. I prefer to take it easy..and in this case...watch the olympics with my kids. That's not your cup of tea...but I'm sure you have one that is. And it shouldn't be colorizing the world with doom.

It's been a real rollercoaster for many of us Rayder. Hope you're right bro, but I've had a feeling of foreboding for some time...

Back in 1972, when I was clean-shaven, many a person said that I looked like Mark.

Now, at 51 & bearded, Im working on the Gabby Hayes' look. LOL!

i've gotta say, i do understand blood's personal perspective; the man's been through hell and back -- that he still has a sense of humor is a testament to the man's strength and character.

and he, like all of us, are entitled to our opinions. so bless the brother and wish him well, hey? blood, here's hoping life's looking a lot better for you and yours when the next olympics rolls around.

that said, GO USA! 🙂 i'm nutty for the olympics, always have been. i taught myself in 5th grade to play the olympics theme on my trumpet -- hearing it today stirs my heart just as much. i LOVE the olympics -- the hype and commercialism aside. i think it brings out the hope and dreams of our young athletes and that it gives the whole world an opportunity to come together in peace and spotlight their finest athletes on the fields of fair competition. there's something noble and good about the olympics no matter what state the world is in, and i cherish and celebrate that.

I like watching as Charlie pointed out.. the Track and Field Events.. Skating, Volleyball, and Boxing... the rest is of no interests to me...

I would watch if they put a camera in the locker room so I could watch them inject the steroids through their belly button, way cool.

man, that opening performance was AMAZING! whoever had the vision to design that whole thing is just brilliant. wow! 🙂

i'm really grateful (as someone mentioned above) that iraq can send its athletes to this olymics -- both men and women -- without fear of torture if they lose. i'll never forget reading about the soccor athlete who was tortured and crippled by uday hussein after losing a game. never again.

it was very cool. my daughter loved it.

I find them very boring, but as a former swimmer, I have too watch the swimming competition, as well as the soccer since they are two of my favorite sports. I used to love to watch mens basketball as well, but now I cant stand it. There is nothing worse than watching multi million dollar athletes lose games because all they know how to do is make the sportcenter highlights while the european teams take them to school fundamentally.

My 3 girls sat quietly and watched the opening ceremonies. they didn't fight....touch each other (stop touching me!) or anything. They enjoyed seeing all of the unknown countries. They were impressed how one lonely athelete from Microminiland (made up) could wave...smile and look like he was having the time of his life all by himself.

How about that huge doobie on a roach clip that they lit at the end of the opening ceremony. My wife and i cracked up when we saw that. I wonder how many people thought the same.

Very cool opening ceremonies. But I don't think they will ever top the Archer lighting the flame in Barcelona in '92. I thought Athens could have come up with something better than torching a giant ****! I had imagined a flaming discus being hurled into a giant cauldron by a naked female (equality and all)from the Greek T & F team. Now that would have been something!
