RICKAMAVEN, thanks for the history lesson--very interesting. i'm into modern smooth jazz like the rippingtons, brian hughes, etc.

calavera: i consider "midnight at the oaisis" maria muldaur and "night in tunisia" dizzy gillespie as examples of modern jazz. i consider these as older music mills brothers anything, "smoke gets in your eyes" the platters. i consider these as classics "i can't get started" bunny berigan, "and the angels sing" gooddman, ziggy ellman solo, "my man" ruth etting, "strange fruit" billy holiday and bix anything.
