I prefer to take the cello off the stogies that are in my main humidor, the ones that I like to age for as long as possible, the ones that are not handled. They mature at a faster rate. I also store cigars with the cello left on in separate humidors, even still wrapped they will mature, only at a slower pace, and keep everybodies fingers off the leaf. If you must smoke em with the cello on, be careful for the melting and dripping that occurs, it will really burn you and mess up your clothes.

A cello is a lousy place to keep your smoke.

In cello, if thy come that way. The cigars are less prone to damage and they age just as well. I learned this the hard way.
