Yea, I assumed that was the case. I'll look at getting some beads and a digital hygrometer as my next purchases. I don't know when my first cigars are due to get here anyways, so I have a few days, and will just use my foam humidifier until I can get some beads.

So . . . distilled water . . . . . that something I can buy a gallon of at walmart or I need to go to a smoke shop and get some? I mean, I can't just boil water and let it cool right?

Grocery store...1 gallon for ~.99 and it should last quite a while. People mentioning "beads" ....also look at the crystals/gel...kinda the same, but different.

Since we're on the topic of seasoning advice when I had first attempted to season my humidor after it seemed to have stabilized I replaced the large rectangular foam humidifier with beads of the same size. Any time I went in the thing humidity would drop FAST and take a while to come back up so I put the foam back in to help. The seal sucked on the thing at first too but I tightened it up.

This was probably 4-6 weeks ago, and the last time I opened it it seemed to hold much better. Is it normal to see a change like that after so much time? Could just be my imagination but if I don't need the foam I'd rather pull it out to regain the space, and not worry about mold. It's a 100 count Milano wood top I got off here for size reference.

Not interested in being Thonginator'd.

Quick story from Iraq:

Iraq is a dry country. We had some NA beers for 4th of July, but that was about it. Well, my cousin, who's one of my best friends, mailed me a box full of tampons and maxi pads with a card that said 'Here ya go you big ****!' Hidden in all the mess was a bottle of Jack Daniels. Me and two of my fellow Marines sat on top of our house that morning (we were night shift) at about 9 AM were sipping Jack n cokes smoking cigars watching a sandstorm come in. We were kings of the world that morning.

Lots of good advice here. I'll just add that when I was new, I was overly concerned with 70/70 (obsessed really). Don't sweat it, anything between 65 and 70 is fine. In fact, I find a lot of smokes burn and taste better closer to 65 (some much better). It's just too bad Heartfelt doesn't make beads at 67.

the Gamecock forum I'm on a good bit originally started off as a cigar site (so I've read on that forum). I found that out about a week and a half ago, which is what piqued my interest in cigars again. I think me and a buddy are going to go to a cigar store in Lexington tomorrow that serves beer and fire up a tobacco turd and drink some beers and watch the SC vs TAMU baseball game.
