was wondering what people preferred blue or red. what were the differences?

Would probably take a blue over a red, but they are both great smokes. Was lucky enough to find a rox of the reds from a friend.

Blue is maduro, btw. Red is the "not" maduro. LOL Not sure what wrapper is on it.

Not many of you really need a history lesson in Oliva Cigars. Over the years Jose Oliva has really propelled Oliva into one of the most consistent well know cigar companies in the business. With Oliva you know you are going to get a well made, great tasting cigar, and with the launch of the Serie V, NUb and Cain line in recent years they have dominated the market. The NUb was Sam Leccia’s brainchild and Oliva teamed up with him and made one of the most innovative cigars we have seen in a long time. In recent Oliva news they have launched a new sub company called Studio Tobac and all the Cain cigars will be released under that brand from now on.

In 2001 Oliva launched the Series O line. Officially called the”Serie O Bold“, the cigar was a Nicaraguan Puro made with a thick Habano wrapper and blended to be fuller bodied (hence the name “Bold”.) In 2004 the Serie O Bold became the Serie O Classic, a similar cigar but blended to be milder in body. Both the Serie O Bold and the Serie O Classic came in natural and Maduro wrappers and sported a unique embroidered Cloth band. At some point between 2004 and 2006 the bands were changed to paper bands but the design was the kept the same. Finally in 2006 the entire Oliva line was re branded and the wrapper was completely redesigned. The Serie O Classic became just the Serie O. Today’s Serie O closely resembles the Serie O Classic in blend and taste but is definitely a different cigar.

Today we will be looking at the Serie O Classic. Collectively there were about 4 million cigars made with the red and blue cloth bands, with the Blue Band being the Connecticut grown Maduro wrapper and the Red Band being a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper.
