How much coffee does your family drink, Bill? That Nesco only does 4 oz. at a time, and most home roasters are not designed to do multiple batches in a row without a good amount of cool down time between. If you're are only drinking a couple cups a day, it may be enough, but if you a coffee nut, like I was, and go through 3 pots a day, you need something a whole lot bigger, like the Behmor 1600.

Sweet Maria is a great place for really good beans, but I usually could find better deals on the roasters and stuff. Once you decide on one, search the internet. Even thought most places sell the roaster for the same price, as mandated by the manufacturer, some throw in several pounds of free beans and free shipping, giving you a much better deal.

Here's a picture of my Behmor 1600 and the rest of my setup from back in the day.

That is a sweet set-up!!! The Nesco looks like a PITA for a small amount. Drum looks like the way to go. Impressive coffee-maker too. The high water temp is a great point. Thanks.

DP agree with you on the smaller size but lets face it unless you are drinking cofee ALL day long its enough for most people. Depending on how much coffee you use per brew and the size of your pot in reality this will get close to three pots a day.

Never said anything about the prices on MNarias hjust thought it was a good place ot get started if you are a novice. Obviously many other great places out there for info (and pletny of discussion just like here) from true coffee nuts.

Actually, if I where to do it today, I'd get the Brazen by Behlmor. Less expensive then the Technivorm, and a whole bunch more features, like being able to set your exact brewing temp, a pre-soak feature and brew timer. The thing even calibrates itself for your altitude (water boils at a lower temp, at higher altitudes).

Many years ago, there was a botl who used to roast his own. Met up with him a few times. Blue Dude, roasting your own is the best way to get the freshest coffee. You control how long it roasts, and you make the amount you need.

If anyone ever sees Cexshun, let him know we still think about him and hope he's well.

Yes. Using an iRoast (not made anymore) which was a gift from Slim. I'm the only one drinking it, so I roast 4oz twice, maybe three times a week.

Not crazy about Sweet Maria's. Had some problems with them and they reacted very poorly. Not that impressed by their product either.
Been much happier with the service and product from Bodhi Leaf Coffee after Doug (BuddhaDaddy) turned me on to them.

I've used the popcorn popper for roasting, you don't have much control and it goes very quickly, too fast even. Only 4 minutes and I'd hit second crack, another 10-15 seconds and everything would be burnt.
