If anyone talks bad about Drew Estate they are shunned. You can talk about any other brand on CATS and it's ok. Prime reason is Cigars For Warriors is apart of CATS and is heavily funded by Drew Estate!

True that I am not part of that group so I don't fully know the extent of whats being talked about. From what I have seen of the DE faithfuls is pretty similar to some of the Tat fans on here.

ttherm,

Though the spirit if your post holds merit, the fact thay you are unaware of the pricing effect that the DE fan boys are having overall on the cigar market betrays you. We are in a boom right now and wuality has gone down as prices have gone up. Zelous fanboys do no favors to current BOTLs, though over time they'll learn or quit. But right NOW the blind loyalty is hurting the market for consumers.

Tatuaje started the LE craze, but to his credit I think PJ has maintained a higer level of QC than DE.

DE has influenced an increase in prices on the entire cigar market? I agree that DE fan boys have increased the prices of some DE sticks, mainly LP, some of it was brought on by DE themselves. Limited, single production runs of quality sticks with good reviews increases demand. Large demand along with small supply leads to increased prices. That has lead to anything that the DE factory makes to be sought after and over priced. Although I am not a fan of every LP stick, I do enjoy a couple of them. (enjoy and smoke often are two separate things due to this very subject) But as a whole DE has other lines in their naturals, Acid, and MUAT that I feel are reasonably priced for the cigar they are even though I am not a big fan of them. Whether quality has suffered or not, from a business standpoint DE is firing on all cylinders.

As for the total market, I think increased prices are due more to increased interest in cigars in general and a growing market of consumers, and the increased internet sales. I wont go into all the B&Ms have to charge more due to overhead and decreased sales, everyone knows all that. I dont think that you can blame increasing prices in the entire market on one company.

* Criticize what you want, after all I'm just a Cbid forum noob.
* I'm not a DE fan boy, just think DE has a good business model
*Also not a Tat hater, was just ruffling some feathers

FWIW, there was no criticism either intended or implied in my OP. It was born more of curiosity than anything; I knew there are some CATS (or at least folks who follow the page) on CBid; and this conversation has been helpful, for me anyway. For example, I didn't know about the relationship between DE, CFW & CATS. (Also, I didn't know Jamie followed CATS, unless he is still asking about his turn in the Wombat pass!)

DE had a good model. QC and CS ain't what they used to be.

I like JD and some DE products but they don't get my $phone anymore.
