Smoked the mystery unbanded cigar yesterday:

Nice construction with a rounded head that makes it easy to clip without disturbing the shoulder too much. Firm with no soft spots and a medium brown wrapper leaf with no large veins that leaves a salt and sweet taste on the lips and tongue. The smoke has a velvety quality that is not tannic and not very peppery that reminds me of the EPC Elancos.

I would call the strength medium with full flavor profile that is not complex but very enjoyable and leaves a nice aftertaste. I would definitely buy these if the price was right.

I have no idea what this is but my guess is either an EPC or a JohnneyO blend.

I smoked the unbanded cigar and it was an excellent smoke. Thanks wombat.

The cigar had a dull dry looking reddish brown wrapper with only a few small veins showing, and similar colored fillers. There was a slight sponginess when pinched. It started with a light woody flavor with a slight bit of leather and some faint spice flavors in the background. The smoke started dry and made my nose run. After a few puffs, a strong taste of roasted nuts joined the wood and leather.

In the middle third the nuttiness got sweeter, the leather faded and I noticed a mellow tanginess, which increased. The cigar had a pleasant combination of flavors that was complex, tangy and sweet, with mild tobacco, light wood and roasted nuts flavors that I could pick out and other flavors that my palate can't describe.

The final third was the best. It was mild, smooth and sweet. The tangy flavor disappeared. The predominant flavors were sweet tobacco, light wood with hay/grass mixed in and a hint of leather. The strength kicked in as I nubbed it to less than an inch, but its mellow smoke allowed full retro that left a sweetness in the nose.

The cigar put out an ample amount of smoke, started dry but mellowed out. It gave off a pleasant sweet light woody aroma. The ash was flaky, and dropped on its own. It burned mostly straight, needing only one touch-up about half way. There were several flavor transitions and it finished strong but mellow.

I haven't had one of these before, and it reminded me of an Illusione, but not exactly. The tanginess, complexity, mild, smooth and mellow flavors seem cubanesque. I'm thinking it's a cc, but not sure. Looking forward to the next reviews and the final ID. Thanks, wombat, for a great cigar.
