I would like to understand something. Since I am newer to cigars and forums why do people continuosly post their misfortunes on a forum. I would think one has family and friends to turn to in a time of need and if not what does that say about ones character.

Now if my close family member where ill this would be the last place I would post about it. I would come here to take mind off it for a brief moment not spark more thoughts about it.

If some misfortune happened and there is a benefit or charity of some sort then yeah I get it spread the word. Honestly though friends and family are what you should lean on in a time of need not a handle on a forum.

Oh and by the way I live about an hour from busa and there is no such thing as an overstressed cop in that area. Maybe a stressfull homelife but not at work. They make very good money for the area and a large portion of my friends are cops and correction officers so I know what they call stressfull and it does not compare to the average persons work day.

Shaun, different people deal with things in their own ways. We've become a digital society, to some, having an a friend over an electronic medium such as a forum or facebook et. al, is just as good as a friend down the street. That's their choice to share things to those people in this fashion, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just different than how you might deal with it.

Well, in Busa's situation, the family is what's causing the stress. Everyone is already overwhelmed in their own right, so this is a place that isn't quite so "close to home." Saying that posting here means that he has no "real" friends is kind of presumtuous and (rude word deleted.)
In other cases, the disinterested third party is what you need. In still other cases, a person sometimes just has to get something off their chest. On a forum, with a handle rather than a name with a bunch of relatively anonymous, faceless handle-wearers who don't know you from adam...you still get human feedback and responses, but it's not *personal.* People you'll probably never meet in your lifetime are kind of "safe" in that way.

Then again, there are just as many that we haven't met yet but speak to on the phone, in text/ IM, on FB... the world has gotten very small. Different kinds of friendships in the world today - and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's fine if it doesn't suit you, but you shouldn't judge people who feel differently.

In the broader scope, I don't think there's such a thing as an inappropriate place to ask for prayers for ANY reason. I have family and friends who have prayed for kids in amber alerts, troops overseas, etc., whom we have never met and only heard of through electronic media. I certainly don't have a problem adding someone who posts here about a FIL or grandchild who has cancer or a heart condition or whatever.

Much the same way that you seem to think that someone who posts problems here must have poor character and no friends, I think that telling someone to go bother their REAL friends with their problems and don't ask me to pray for them or even tell me about them speaks about ones character as well. I think it's wonderful that we have the ability to connect with people on many different levels these days.

read the entire post, what I stated applied to that area and excluded his home life. I am sorry but as I said I have many friends in the police and fire union and I do know more about that area and the job then probably everyone except for Busa and I would be the other side of the argument and if his overstessed cop career only existed 7 yrs ago then why does he still post his stupid 2 word post.

See this is where I see a favoritism cause Busa is a familiar name to you vets. Who in their right mind would consider someone a friend if they thought talking to someone about this circumstance would be a bother. I also never said don't pray or do whatever it is that you wish to do, but those actions like to be thrown out there to cusion your side of the argument.

On a realistic note though I disagree about considering people you only know from forums and social media friends. Acquaintances or good people is one thing but how much do you really know about a person over social media? For all you know I am some male that lives in south jersey in my mid 30s. I could have just posted that stuff and be something entirely opposite.

You just don't get it, do you? How do you know what he went through? Oh, some friends of yours told you or you assumed that they didn't have a stressful job, therefore you jumped to the conclusion that he didn't.

Great detective work there, Lou.

As for Anth's 2 word posts, there's an ignore function you can use if they bother you that much, although your own lack of punctuation and sentence structure leaves much to be desired of.

(((shrug))) Well it would definitely explain your claimed personal knowledge about Busa's work environment.

Whether deliberately or unintentionally I can't tell, but you're misreading what I said. When I say that it's wonderful to be able to connect with people on many different levels, that's exactly what I mean - many different levels. Neighbor down the street is different from penpal is different from crazy uncle is different from coworker is different from FB friend, etc. All real human connections, but all different kinds of connections. FWIW, there are a couple of people I met here whom I know better and telephone more than I do my neighbor down the road OR my crazy uncle, and I do consider them my friends. The rest of you are just here for my entertainment - DANCE, MONKEY! DANCE! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
