Ok, I've started to jump in at least 10 time and erased my post not wanting to be "that guy".

While I thank your friend for being a true american hero and serving our great country, I'm not sure how I see that it is relevant to the conversation. He could have searched for threads on the subject(I did after this was initially posted and even bumped a couple of them)

He could have just asked for advice on value priced cigars(plenty before him have, but you know every time its asked a couple of new suggestions do pop up, so its not all that bad).

But you see, when he starts with the part about being a vet and being disabled and having limited income(I really hate the way I'm going to come off here) it sounds a little put on. It comes across to many of us here, who have seen lots come and go, as being aimed at drawing sympathy. And you see, drawing sympathy is one of the discrete tactics people use to mooch. That may not have been your friends intent, but it very much reads like that of many we have seen come before you.

Quite honestly, this is why there is a fair amount of hazing in the community. There are truly a great group of guys here, but they are somewhat protective and have been soured by people before. Is it fair to new guys that may be really good people, with really great intentions? NO, but it is a defense mechanism, and it does help.

Some even come in thinking they can "buy" their way into the group. They get active in trades, over send on their ends, then in a few months are looking for "retribution" or looking for some "help" to get through a rough time. All the while they were playing the long con and not really interested in the great friends they could develop here.

Just my $0.02, YMMV

I can see what you mean but I can tell you that it wasnt his intention. I am just defending my friend as I am the one that brought him here telling him how great of a community this was and still is. I am not going to let one azzhat make me feel differently. If my friend chooses to leave at this point that is up to him but Im not going anywhere. Im sure alot of ppl will dislike me or my posting style or because vibe has been here so long that they will just side with him.

But seriously one look at vibes BIO and you can see hes a joker, I just wanted to point that out. This is a lose lose situation.

As for being a clown, yeah…you got me there. Better to leave them laughing than to beg or seek approval riiight?

Consider me the anti-troll of CBid. YOU are the troll. I hold up the mirror. You don't like it.

I looked at it after his first post in this thread. I knew what he was looking for and hopefully one of my post can make his " self proclaimed Wall of glory" LOL but really just defending my friend.

reck i truly appreciate it, because obviously you know me. but enough of this b.s. i hope this thread dies. i will certainly be far more cautious with anything i write in the future. i do plan on sticking around. a little freshman hazing never scared me before and its not going to now. thanks

illi i just kind of wanted to give a little bit of background info on myself, not looking for pity points. and i did search afew things before posting but had problems with the seaech engine. i figured the next beat thing is to ask people that have experienced many types of cigars, what there reccomendations would be. i actually got alot of good replies and have found some good sticks(according to some of the posts here) at great prices. so i do thank all of you for the great posts and to the others, you are reading to deep into what i said. thanks

You are damned if you do and damned if you don't. A lot of people don't deal well with search engines and it's not always a bad thing to start a topic anew.

Next time say you're a wealthy entrepreneur, who was wondering what the peasants were smoking these days.
Works like a charm, you'd prolly even get some phishing bombs from bums hoping you'll blow up their mailbox with your rare and HTF stuff.

Just my opinion:

Find a cigar that you like. Different people have different tastes. If there is a B&M (brick and mortar) shop near you, stop buy, tell them what type of cigar you like, and try a couple. If you find one you like, ask if they have anything with similar strength, body, taste, etc. When you find something you really like, buy a box of it. If you still enjoy it when the box is half-empty, you have found the right cigar.

There I knew there was a reason I read through all this crap. Sound advice. Thank you.🇨🇮

I plan to try this, local B&M has a footlocker shaped box of cigars, the tobbaconist said people come in and buy them by the handfuls cause they're $2.99 a stick. I bought 2. I wish I had bought 20. I would share the name but I didn't get a receipt and they have no band.

Our local B&M only has in-house hand rolls for $5+ so we try to not go there too often. Closest shop that actually has a name brand selection is about 45min away.
