Well I just scored (4) 6' x 6" x 3/16" strips. Should be waaaaaay more than I'll need to line the inside of a 70 qt cooler. The best part it was free.

Free is real good I bought a bunch forget exact dimensions when I built my wineador shelves. I bought about twice as much as I needed but it wasn't cheap iirc.

Be careful when cutting those down to size. I read somewhere that Spanish Cedar saw dust is kinda like asbestos in your lungs.

Sounds about right made my shelves in the garage during the winter so no ventilation and the dust cover everything plus it was all I tasted for 2 weeks afterward.

Cedar and Redwood are the most toxic sawdust.

Here is where I got the lumber for my project as nowhere locally carried spanich cedar in case anyone is looking or for future reference. If I can remember correctly I googled the place and found some coupon codes also. They also have a nice variety to use for the fronts of the drawers also. I used the purpleheart for my fronts and am very happy with how it turned out.

If you are lining a cooler go to your local and pick up some empty boxes and line it with them. Theres a pic somewhere here on the boards of one that was done, looked good,,,,,,,,,,,,, and cheap too.

Spanish Cedar is not even a Cedar, it is in the same family as Mahogany.

It is not safe to breath the saw dust of any type of wood but Cedar and Redwood are not the most toxic or even toxic at all. You can develop a reaction from almost any wood and definitely certain woods are worse then others for some people.

Here are some actual Toxic/Dangerous woods:

Greenheart
Lanburnum
Mansonia
Milky Mangrove
Mulga
Oleander
Poison Walnut (not to be confused with the walnut your likely to find)
Sassafras
Tambootso
Yew

The odds of you ever even seeing most of these woods are slim to none. Sassafras is a common wood and I have used it some and prob still have about 50 board feet left in my shop. It does give off a great smell when machined but it did make my nose and eyes run and I sneezed a lot.

Florida used to (may still) plant oleander in middle and shoulders of highways, every coupla years someone would gather up some to cook with and get into the obits.

Read EXACTLY WHAT I WROTE. I didn't say SPANISH cedar. Also I wrote SAWDUST *****le.......I.E. INHALING....

Where did I get this? Hmmmmmm.......how do you think I might know about inhaling sawdust. Somewhere maybe where you work with wood?
