What a bunch of bs...although his acid line a bit strong for me I do smoke alot of naturals etc...it is very obvious he is a sell out in my opinion as this merger except monetary gain within cheap standards lead to larfer profitsnnnis a damn shame as it would appear to me they would have to b makinbank now...I assume corporate greed has kicked in.....well maybe someone new and honest cant reunvent the reinvention and keep it real....sad day in cigar land

While I'm not privy to what happened here, you guys should understand a little more about the big picture and tobacco products.

You all know the FDA is trying to get their hands into the tobacco world by forcing manufacturers to list their ingredients, just like food products do. This will but a huge burden on manufacturers to document everything involved in their process. If this should go through, the Acid line would take a huge hit due to the infusion process. This is proprietary information. If it was released, it would be like the recipe for KFC crispy chicken being leaked out. Suffice to say it wouldn't be good for Acid.

But Swisher is an international company that already has this ingredient list 'thing' happening across Europe. They know the ins and outs of it. Drew wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel.

So while I'm sure a lot of money is involved, its not 100% about that. Its about securing the company's future.

As for this other blog, I don't know anything about that. I do know that Jonathan Drew is a really nice, genuine man. whether it was him or one of his social media reviewing staff who made the comments, I don't know. I just know the person I've met is very in tune with his customers and loves making cigars.

But they got into bed with a company that the FDA is targeting because they make cheap flavored cigars and blunt wraps. Then the lie upon lies Jon told to his loyal followers this will burn bridges that company will never be the same. Look out for 91 days out that's the typical contract time before the new parent company can make changes as they see fit that is when you get redundant job lay offs trim the fat time.

Sadly This the person you met can come off that way at times but deep down he is truly a liar and bully. A guy broke the news about the Swisher deal over a month ago. JD threatened him every way he could besides physically to get him to take it down. That is a pos if you ask me. Sadly I expect businesses to sell out to the larger corps eventually but it's how you act when doing so that shows your true character.

Even if it was a JD pr guy that is still his employee and he never apologized for his employee doing that so he either thought it to be OK or gave the go on doing it.

Kind of a classic example that money talks. I do not blame him, but going forward will only buy JDN from that lineup. I would much rather support small business owners than corporate America if possible.

His "after party" at the RMCF never happened. Rumor was JD enjoyed the new CO pot laws a little too much. No ideas if it was true but I DO know there was zero after party...:-k

Then, he'll wait for his "non-compete" clause to expire (assuming there was one).

Then he'll make a grand "return" to the biz, and many of his fan boys will slobber all over themselves chasing his latest and greatest.

I know nothing about his higher-end stuff that people chase, cause I don't spend that kind of coin per stick.

His lower en stuff (Undercrown, certain MUWATs) I like when I can get them at my price......

He's not stupid, and he knows how to make a good cigar (well, he knows how to get a good cigar made)

I'm betting on a "successful" return to the biz after a few years have passed..............successful being defined as his cigars selling well and his operation being profitable.

And, upon his return, I think he'll stay "smaller" in terms of number of cigars/year produced.
It's easier to manage, creates even more hysteria, and greater per cigar profit. He's probably learned a lot, and realizes that a smaller, well-managed operation can provide him with near the same net, with only a fraction of the headache, of a "big" cigar company.
