Open a thread. Click on that user's name. At the bottom of the list is "hide user's posts" click on that.

Voila'! You can see when they post in a thread... but you can't see what they've written. Unless some idiot jackalope quotes them.

So... hide their posts, and NOBODY QUOTE THEM!

There's a feature where you can ignore a handle. You won't see what they say so you don't feel the need to comment on their posts. I suggest you use that feature instead of leaving.
