The AF 858 is great stick period...I wish 3 bucks a pop more like 6 now though...

100% Kona coffee beans can be bought for as low as $18-ish per pound but the better farms charge $25 and up.

I don't know that there was much "adventure" to my years in working in the record retail business. Part-time, full-time, nights, days, middle relief shift, schedule maker, collected over 3,000 vinyl records (...probably much more than that but gave away a lot too...disco, classical, MOR, country...), free tickets to concerts, backstage passes to a few...hmm, okay, here's a story:

Went backstage for the Beach Boys concert here in March 1978. This was their "15 Big Ones" tour where Brian Wilson started playing in public again. In the waiting room, took pictures of Carl and Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine and Mike Love while my friend got them to sign a poster for me - but no Brian in sight. So I left that room and went to the opposite waiting room hoping to find him but it was empty, no food, no people, nothing. Walked out and was standing in the hallway right outside of that room when Marilyn Wilson (Brian's wife at that time) came by. Asked if I could take her picture and she obliged. After that was just cruising in the same spot when Stan Love (Mike's cousin) came rushing towards me, going towards the room. I had my back turned but heard some doors sliding and next thing I know, Stan is guiding (...more like pulling...) Brian out. What da? Looked at where the sliding noise had come from and from what I could tell, the doors covered up some electrical panels but with lots of room between the doors and the panels. My guess is that Brian was hiding in there. He was probably still scared of performing and his pre-show anxieties had gotten the best of him. But no pictures so you'll have to take my word for it. All in all it was quite strange.

Later on in concert, although Brian was supposed to be the bass player, you could tell he was hardly playing his instrument. His eyes looked glassy too. Towards the end we rushed the stage and when Brian reached down to shake hands, he ended shaking only mine. As a hardcore BB fan at that time, I was totally stoked.

Next time I'll tell you my Steve Gadd story.
