I've always liked the Pepin's, the RP's, and the La Aurora's. The Perdomo's are quite good with a little age on them (most of his smokes are).

Anyway, still a good bang for the buck.

I agree with MOST of the posters, although I do not understand how anyone could "enjoy" either the Rocky Patel or Perdomo Legends. Puros Indios used to have a "Legends" cigar also, but I guess they were dropped for obvious reasons. With most of the Legend series you could get as much pleasure out of them as you would inhaling the smoke from a burning log soaked with creosote. There are plenty of good, inexpensive cigars out there (such as Reposado) so you do not have to torture your palette.

I just finished the Legends sampler from CI that contains all of the legends series. To be honest for the most part they tasted very similar. The exception was the Drew Estate which is an infused cigar. I actually enjoyed it the most which is surprising because typically I don't go for infused cigars. On the rest , If you took the bands off and told me these were all the same brand of cigar I would believe you. The Pepin Garcia was a bit better than the rest but the differences between all of them were minimal. I think CI probably manufactures these. They certainly all tasted like they came from the same factory. And yes they were pretty much a let down across the board.

Smoked my second and rested DP legend the other day and didn't care for it at all. Could be me or could be that a nap wasn't good for them.

I like the DE and the AJ (for the price.) What happened to the Camacho? A BOTL gave me one once, and it was the best of the legends I have tried.

I had bought some DPGs, they had good flavor, but all the wrappers on the ones I smoked fell apart on me.

Probably wouldn't buy again because of it.

I notice that Puros Indios Legends are no longer offered I guess, for reasons that should be obvious to most of those who post here. The only one I haven't tried are the Oliva. Have to give them a spin. The others range from bad to almost unsmokeable, in my opinion.

The original Perdomos were excellent, then CBID started selling 15 packs and they went down hill (ask Ram) and the Nestor Placencia used to be awesome too.

I don't buy legends anymore.

Over the past four months I have bought and sampled 5 of this series.

E.P. Carillo
Drew Estate
Nestor Placencia
Perdomo
Rocky Patel

E.P Carillo has an earthy/ barnyard taste that I sometimes enjoy. Creamy thick smoke. However, in a blind taste test I probably couldn't tell the difference between this and an El Mejor. Very similar taste.

Drew Estate has an interesting sweet flavor and my wife likes the aroma. I bought a box and have 16 left which should take me a couple years to smoke. It's one of the only infused/sweet cigars I might like.

Nestor Placencia left me flat...I may have smoked all 5 too soon. It was unremarkable.

Perdomo was a completely tasteless airball. I only smoked 2. Put the rest away in hopes that more time will do something or anything to these.

Rocky Patel tastes terrible to me. Maybe just not in my "wheelhouse".

All of these are well made cigars...no complaints about performance. It's just that none of them inspired me to buy more. I fully intended to try the rest of the Legends lineup....But sometimes I just gotta say enough is enough.

Any thoughts? I did a search and I know that this series has been discussed in the past and that many people like them.

Since they are still selling them, there must be a market, but it seems to me that there is no longer (if there ever really was) a reason for the Legends to exist. The catalog blurb says they started 6 years ago, but it has said that for at least a year. Perhaps, back then, getting a cigar for $6 -their stated goal - made by one of these manufacturers (or at least created by the manufacturers and made somewhere by CI) was a good deal but doesn't seem so today.

I wasn't buying from CI 6-7 years ago so don't know what their selection and prices were like then, but today, on any given day, you can find better smokes than the Legends for much less than $6 on CI's pages INCLUDING from the manufacturers that supposedly are behind the Legends.

For about the same price or just a bit more, I can get "real" DP's that don't have these issues.

Right now the LEgends Yellows are showing out of stock, but DP "Blues" are selling for less than the list price of the Legend Yellows (I know Legends often on "sale" but even taking that into account the Blues are not a lot more than the Legends)
