If I commuted to Chicago I'd be a lil over 30. With shift differentials and stuff 35ish. But, gotta pay parking, plus its a 45-60 minute drive.

There's ways to get money. Biggest is to do travel contracts, but with a family n stuff that's too hard to do. Doing this dialysis thing was one of them too, and I'm getting good hourly pay, but means nothing if there's not enough hours to work consistently.

Local contracts pay well, but you're gonna be working places they can't get people to hire in or stay, I.e. crappy workplace.

Most of the highly paid stuff doesn't include benefits too. I could get around 35/hr locally if I opt out of benefits. But the math didn't favor that option when I looked into personal insurance plans.

Hour n a half to go today. Couldn't start on time, had patients that couldn't be seen till later. Would've been home 4 hours ago if not for that. Only 8 hours today... but got 12 scheduled at part time job tomorrow.

Work every day this week and leaving for week long vacation on Saturday. In laws rented a cabin for everyone and brother in law and I split a boat rental.

Gonna be a week long cigar n beer binge.

Got up to go to work and got a call, got cancelled/ low census for the first 8 hours.

12 bed ICU only 3 patients... 😣

Maybe it's just slow all over. I dunno... I feel like as soon as I leave, things will pick up and I'll be missing out again. When I left the ICU fulltime to do dialysis, there was a $10/hr differential pay for anything extra you worked. 3 pts/day, got an extra 10/hr. Treatments on day off, got an extra 10/hr. Plus overtime. Did the maths, if I worked the same hours as I had averaged the last three years, I'd be up about 20-25%. But, 2 months into it, the suits got rid of that perk. Simultaneously, my old fulltime employer enacted a $12/hr differential pay for anything extra you worked. (still in effect, but can be eliminated without notice at any time) Talked to current fulltime employer and asked if differential pay would return and was told it should be back in the fall when things pick up, but that's no guarantee.

This has happened several times to me. When I was a factory worker, I started and we were working 5 10hr shifts, so more or less mandatory overtime every week. Shortly after it went to 4 10s and I found a second job. Then I moved to second job fulltime and factory went back to 50hrs/week and opened Saturdays to optional 5hour overtime shift while the new job was salaried and I was doing 50+ and making only slightly more than the 40 in the factory.

Really torn on what I'm gonna do. Sorry for my bitching posts, just putting thoughts to paper.

I just woke from a dream, where I was in a horrible place. Painted all green on the inside, where botl's and former executives take turns snorting detergent and plooking each other.....

But I'm on the outside now.

Lazy hot sunday afternoon. Worked from the home office for 5 hours, now have vodka based refreshment in hand. Headed for the lounge chair.

Life does not suck. for me anyway.

First world problem of the day: House full of food, but don't want to cook. Don't want to order Pizza because just had pizza yesterday. Solution Meal: Cheez-Itz and Rum.

Ribs n Chicken hit the smoker soon. Bloody Mary and a party short on da patio in Wyoming. Not casper....

Had rum in my coffee this morning after I got cancelled off work.

Ate some tacos.

Took a nap watching netflix

Now to shower and head to work for the last 4 hours of my shift.

Headed to el pool for tequila y cerveza. 101 degrees......

Smoked a shoulder yesterday. This morning, after my workout, I had a pulled pork sammich with a fried egg and a slice of provolone on it.

Plans for December... Green Bay/Dallas game. Not going to the game, just gonna be in town to see how short wheel really is.
