Well, the cat and I took a trip to the vet today. I know she's in a bad way because she let me put her in the car... and she just layed in the front seat, and didn't try to run out. She hates cars.

The vet examined her and recommended fluids and a shot because she was dehydrated. He said to give her 24-48 hours to see if that works, but if not... it's likely end game. 😞

My cat is awesome. But I don't really get so emotionally vested in animals that I'll break the bank for them, ya know? I spent $88.50 today, and if she's not better in the 24-48 that he gave us, or gets worse, I'll only be spending $98 more to end her suffering.

She's 16 years old, and as callous as it may sound, I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars to keep her around for another year or two. Especially since her quality of life will be crappy. She can go out gracefully, and peacefully.

My old guy fell apart at 19, cost me well over a grand then at the vets and when I made my final visit, he knew who I was and purred as he faded away. Hard not to get emotionally involved after 19 years together.
