I tried one, just out of curiosity once. As soon as the flame hit the cigar, it started coming apart, almost as if it had been programed to do just that. I made it about 1/4 the way through before it came apart altogether. I got an 'A' for perseverance and a 'D' for intelligence. While it lasted however, it didn't taste bad which isn't the same as saying it tasted good.

Brocatus was just a yard gar. I smoked about 20 of them with about the same taste experience as Q's, but without any construction issues causing problems.

Nice to see that Lancero man still lives.

Have a rep for being like Mikey from the Life Commercials (I'll try any cigar. NAture of the beast when trying to start my own site).

On the list of terrible cigars I've had:

Captain Black Cherry (Pipe Tobacco Cigarillo, doesn't count)
95% of Gurkhas
RyJ CC (it was rolled super tight and I'm not a street walker so I couldn't smoke it. First CC Ever)
Got-Your-6 (Actually reviewed it for my site, it got a 2/10. 2 Points was because it looked neat.)

read #19, #21, #25...

it's a long story..
but Flor de Gonzolez REALLY BLOWS!!!

Cest la Vie was a tolerable yard gar for about
the first year they appeared...
but then the NOSE DIVED BIGTIME...
MY GUESS is that Puros Indios or Victor Sinclar took over production of Cess la'pool Vie...

This happens a lot with "good" cigars, even the best. It goes something like this: a cigar maker has a warehouse or two for a cigar and the order was cancelled before they could be rolled. A couple of years later a guy from India heard about the warehouse (or two) of really good tobacco. He approaches the owner and offers to buy the tobacco if the owner rolls them for the buyer. Viola-you have Vintage 1990.

We had just arrived in Mumbai(this is in the early 90's),thirsty and looking for a smoke I found this little tobacco store right in the main drinking district.I looked around saw only ridiculously priced Cubans and lots of brands I had never seen nor heard of.After a few minutes of looking the entire shop over Haji approaches me and recommends what he smokes daily.I wish I could recall the name.....all I remember is it had a profile view of an elephants head.I grab the stick(about $3) and bic,no choice unless I want to carry matches, and hit the first watering hole that I see smoke pouring out of.My buddy and I order a beer,I gnaw through the foot(no cutter) prepping my smoke for the light. Our beer shows up,the brand I shall never forget,Old Monk. Its served in a family style bottle, probably a liter size.We pour the beer in the glass and immediately notice its dark amber color, not your usual pale watered down southwest Asian brew, this makes us smile. We raise our glasses and take our first draw of beer in over a month............it gagged me a little,as if it wanted out, holy crap this beer is awful.I have to find a way to get the taste out of my mouth.....oh yea the cigar. My buddy,a cigarette smoker, is puffing away on a Turtle he had picked up before we left Korea. As the smoke lights I realize this isn't very good....as a matter of fact 3 puffs in I take a drink of the Old Funk..........it was a much preferable taste.I take a couple more draws on the stick,it only gets worse. Now I want to throw up in my beer, which IMHO would've improved the taste.Took me 3 days to get that taste out of my mouth.I returned to Haji's shop a couple times and as he had stated........he was puffing away on that Elephant azz cigar, his daily.I was waiting for him to ask me if I enjoyed it........I guess after seeing me pick up a handful of RyJ Churchill Tubos(Habanos)at $12 per he knew the answer.

BTW the beer,Old Monk,is not an amber. As it sits in the glass the sediment heads to the bottom making it just another watered down Asian let down. After watching numerous dead things float down river daily it was obvious to us what the sediment in the glass was.
