Well, gotta say I much prefer my career of dealing with various bodily fluids and orifices n stuff over the thought of drywall taping/mudding.
I've done the first coat of mud n tape, and the $800 quote I got is sounding reasonable.... Though, a pro would've had this whole room knocked out in about 2-3 hours including setup/takedown no problem. I hired out when I had my whole house done. I hung all the drywall throughout but farmed out the taping and they did it in 2.5 days for $1200. The guy I used was doing it as a side job, and no longer takes side work.
Gotta do the hallway outside the bathroom now... Most of that's gonna be off a ladder too. Joy.
I've put this job off for years and years. Every once in a while I feel like working on it and I'll knock out a part of it. 2010 I tore out the closet and a couple small partition walls with plans to build a bathroom. 2011 I framed out the bathroom and put insulation in the walls, put in an exterior door in the hallway, and a window in the planned bathroom. 2012 I did the rough electric. 2013 did the shower and rough plumbing, dug a pit in the crawlspace for an ejection pump because I couldn't catch the slope to gravity drain to the septic tank. 2014 hung the drywall in the hallway outside the bathroom and most of the bathroom, 2015 finished the plumbing minus fixtures, finished the electric minus fixtures, and got the final sheets of drywall up. So I guess this will be the year I finish it. Maybe...
