It's all about setting up the cooler properly, using plastic trays, cigar boxes, etc.
I know I have OCD worse than most here, but it's nice to know exactly where EVERY cigar is in my cooler.
No "digging chaos", upsetting the delicate tetris balancing act, etc.

There's a certain way all the trays/boxes fit in my cooler, which currently holds 587 cigars.
I look at my spreadsheet to decide what I want to smoke. The spreadsheet tells me which tray it's in, and where the tray is.
I open the cooler, remove trays if required, grab my cigar, replace trays in their spot.....cooler is open for 15-20 seconds. Everything fits right back in its spot.

okay, i do have spread sheet and some extensive info. But i did not think of actually documenting locations of cigars within the humidor... i bought in bulk on cbid many times and i have to put them in humidor in a hurried discreet fashion at night and somewhere along the line, it went awry. i am somewhat OCD myself, but well... it's the FDA regulation panic stock up of 2016 August... F'ers.... i will get back into organizing better...

when you are buying secretly, and you have the below order from cbid, you just fit it in best way you know how...

Order Totals Pending Billed
Merchandise Total $0.00 $1,430.00
Shipping Total $0.00 $69.15
Sales Tax $0.00 $0.00
Order Total $0.00 $1,499.15

heh......
It's all good.....I know I have a mild case of OCD.

My wife's favorite way to fuq with me when I've managed to make her mad, is to threaten me with "cigar shuffling"................taking 20 or so cigars out of their present location and redistributing them randomly amongst my cooler and various humis.

As someone who has been manufacturing custom humidors of all sizes for over 20 years, retrofitting existing cabinetry can be extremely difficult. First of all, you want to incorporate as much solid Spanish Cedar as possible into the interior in order to maximize the aging of the cigars. So many units these days use Spanish Cedar veneer which doesn't perform nearly as well as solid wood. Also, I have seen humidors with aromatic cedar and the same cedar used for siding and decks used for the interiors of the units. Actually, Spanish Cedar is a misnomer. It is, in fact, not a true cedar. Its properties are totally different and are not appropriate for humidor interiors.

Secondly, the unit must be sealed properly in order to retain the proper interior humidity level as evenly and consistently as possible. A properly sealed unit can, however, create other problems if the enclosure is not constructed correctly. The interior of the humidor in most cases has a much higher humidity level than the room that it is placed in. Wood swells with increases in humidity, creating an unbalanced situation between the interior and exterior of the humidor. I have seen humidors literally break apart due to the wood swelling from the high interior humidity as compared to the much lower exterior humidity where the unit is placed. A properly built humidor will take this into account and allow the interior wood to expand and contract without the exterior of the unit being compromised.

with the boss... wifey threatening to burn them all if i buy more, i have to organize them in SHORT amount of time in DISCREET fashion. I am not sure when i lost track, but i have. And now it looks like i need prayers sent my way. and it's LIFO which is not what i want. i am almost considering paying for my wife and the kids to go on a weekend trip, and i just re do the f'er....

My solution: never have a wife or kids to begin with.

The result: buy whatever you want, hide bills from no one ever, and enjoy the blissful, peaceful silence and total, eternal lack of control-related whining, moaning, scowling, threatening, passive-aggressiveness, etc. etc.

Ahhhh... total permanent bliss! 🇨🇮

(P.S.--- plus you save and build up metric crap-tons of extra money, in perpetuity)
