I'm open heart recovery.

They ain't sick, but they're sick.

Did everything I could to maintain a safe environment.

But when staff is nonexistent, trivial things get critical.

Ehh I been in the OR during Heart surgeries, Nothing like seeing a man's lung pulled out to the side for a Triple A Repair. You have no worries, they cover them with more than enough betadine and pump them so full of antibiotics, you could sew a dead cat up in them and they would be alright lol. 🇨🇮

Looking to go away for a while in early February.

Somewhere warm, prefer a resort hotel with pools n stuff, and some local-ish things to do with family.

Not outside USA.

Suggestions?

Wife n I were talking about it, kinda in between indoor resort at Wisconsin Dells, or like we'd planned a year or two ago, San Diego. But open to other ideas. Did Florida and Georgia last year.

I'm not sure how I feel about a cruise. I think I'd enjoy it a bit, but might not. I have issues being places with no escape... I have a hard time being on airplanes because I can't just stop and get out. Getting stuck on a boat with a thousand strangers I don't want to be around doesn't sound like fun. But exploring a city sized boat and stuff does sound fun. Wife is totally against cruises, wouldn't even go on a chartered fishing boat with me in FL. She has a fierce hatred of boats.

Another idea is Galveston/gulf islands

But if I'm not going out on a fishing tour, I'd prefer pools over beaches. But I've never been in an ocean either. Saw the Atlantic once.

Talk her into it and she'll want to go again.. the food and parties and seeing the blue water is unforgettable.. you gotta see the flying back fishes at least once... 😟

She's told me no cruises multiple times. I won an Alaska cruise from a raffle about 10 years ago, she wouldn't go with. Gave tickets to someone at work. They got divorced after the cruise.

Quick search looks like it may be a bit too expensive maybe. Prices are wildly varied. It's like looking at airfare prices. Makes no sense. I can fly to Anchorage Alaska for half the price of flying from Chicago to Indianapolis.

Vacation is for her birthday present, so it's gotta be something she's into (zoos, yarn, pools), I cashed in a bunch of PTO at work. I have $2200 to spend on a vacation for 2 adults and 1 child.

Can't get any time off work approved (submitted 5 requests for 2018, all declined), so it's gotta fit in my normal week on/week off schedule. Seems most if not all the cruises I saw did not fit my schedule.

San Diego has a lot to do. Sea World, Legoland, The Zoo and Wild Animal Park, and then Disneyland is just up the highway and so is Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios Hollywood.

Traffic sucks, though.

San Diego is nice for a short vacation, although it isn't a resort hotel destination like you describe.

Dan, the Dell's in February would basically be staying at your hotel and chilling at the pool. Much of the Dell's appeal is outdoor summertime fun. Also many of the stores shut down in the winter.

On Coronado Island there's a beach in the flight path of the NAS that's cool to hang at... All kinds of planes landing every 5 minutes it seemed... Also The Boathouse had the best shrimps cocktails I've ever had... I've tried to duplicate it but failed... 😟
