I think you'll like the Ecuador. I bought a box of them last week so to me they're obviously box worthy. Like with the Corojo, the more patience you have the better the cigars will taste when you light one up. If you can let the majority of them sit in your humidor/coolador for several months you'll more than likely have a better experience.

I've only tried 3 or 4 of the NEW Camacho's.........sadly they all sucked azz.When the last of my OR 10th Anni's are gone I suppose a small tear will be in order.

Got a couple boxes from 2006. They smoke very nice and have mellowed so much from original that it is hard to compare to the new.

I miss the old scorpions.

I like these too, but I've never really tried any others as their strength profile sounds like it would be a bit stronger than I usually enjoy........8-[

Hey guys, I'm compelled to challenge all the bashing these brands have taken from cigar aficionados the past few years. While I might agree that the older stock was probably better, I have to say that both CAO and Camacho have surprised me in that they did not crash and burn like everyone expected. I'd agree that they've gone the more survivalist route of marketing to the less discerning, macho mases, but there are still some decent quality albeit less interesting sticks and they are still releasing a few non-standard and even innovative blends, like Camacho's 2 barrel-aged and CAO's Amazon trilogy. I'm admittedly not a huge fan of either brand, but gotta give some respect for the fact that they didn't entirely screw them up either. Like many, I expected a doomsday scenario so have been pleasantly surprised and glad to see there are some good decision-makers who aren't pure bean counters. Isn't that worth applauding in an industry that easily trends towards bottom-line, mass production and away from small batch boutiques?

I've tried two of the new Camachos, and they were decent. Barrel Aged and Corojo. I would smoke them again, but they did not motivate me to get a box, though...

CAO has remade themselves. Fist the family owners went to a wacky marketing strategy as their qc suffered from over expansion of lines and product. Then they sold and it REALLY went to schit. Now their stuff is ok, but the gimmicky stuff like the christmas blends which are rebans of existing lines is just pathetic. I hear the OR Amazon was good, tried the recent one just for S&Giggles *blah*

Davidoff has done a ok job with Camacho, but again the marketing is STUPID and the target is pushing the blends which IMO is going to keep vet smokers away. It sadens me because I believe that's a long term deathnell for the label. Christian is doing a fine job with the CLE stuff.

Did CAO get sold again? General Cigar (CAO) is under Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S.

Davidoff is Swiss held under Imperial Tobacco in the UK. Unless things have changed recently?



So my thoughts are along the line of the Camacho I stated previously.

Pre General YES.

Post General NO. IMO the blends and construction suffered greatly after the sellout.


Think I still have a few pre General Extreme Robs left somewhere, which are a great smoke.

Old Camacho had the coolest old school labels and svelte boxes. New Camacho have some of the dumbest new school labels imaginable. Maybe Obsidians are worse, but it is close.

Unimpressed with the packaging change.

I was an avid smoker of the original Camacho brand but, having sampled a few of the new line, my feeling is they traded quality for flashier bands. It seems to not have tanked the brand in sales but for me its all over, I don't plan on buying any more. I do follow what Christian is doing though and have been pleasantly unsurprised by many of his offerings since parting ways with Camacho. I'll always miss the old powerhouse Corojos, Diplomas and 11/87's.

Never was a fan of camacho old or new.
