Like others above, favorite yesterday means nothing today or tomorrow....I do like TW's mention of Flea...I wasn't thinking bass as I pondered the OP, but Flea stands out to me more than most others....most of the time.

Today, I might pick Dimebag Darrell.....yesterday it was Wilton/DeGarmo...can't pick, because I rarely know which one actually caused me to stop and perk up my ears. I was going to type "BB King", but honestly, I think that I'm more likely to put on Peter Green when I'm looking for blues guitar

Clapton is still my favorite rock guitarist, SRV a close second but not too far behind.

I haven’t yet figured out who’s my #1 Jazz guitarist but Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass and John McLaughlin have got to be right up there.

Then again, I don’t really need to rank them, I listen to what I like and that’s enough.

This one is a hard one to pick. Different genres make it complicated but I don't think I'd put Clapton in my top 5.

Typical givens for my preferred musical tastes (classic rock, blues) the top 3 in no particular order would be Hendrix, SRV, BB King.
