For one, it's not good for your sleep cycle... The sleep you get basically doesn't count as sleep... Even if you don't notice, you wake up when the high where's off, and then your actual sleep cycle starts...

Second, if you're having trouble handling the intensity of a marijuana high, the worse thing you can do is start shutting off senses... You want to keep them engaged...

Even diaz has laid off of the edibles from what I understand...

Something new I've been doing that you might dig... I roll a spliff - 1/2 Solani Aged Burley Pipe tobacco and 1/2 herb... Smoke the whole thing, but don't inhale, just retrohale... You'll get a relaxed little high but definitely nothing intense...

I actually think the edibles are great...it's more of a body buzz, doesn't really give you a brain buzz, but totally relaxes your body, so I would think it would be the better route for pain relief with the minimal "high feeling"...YMMV

Yes that's what I need. I need my body to chill out.

"When you consume cannabis in an ingestible form, its THC is metabolized by the liver, which converts it to 11-hydroxy-THC. This active metabolite is particularly effective in crossing the blood-brain barrier, resulting in a more intense high. Inhaled THC undergoes a different metabolic process because rather than passing through the stomach and then the liver, the THC travels directly to the brain. This is why the effects of smoked or vaporized cannabis come on faster and diminish quickly."

Honestly coop, if you're not a fan of the intense high, edibles might turn toy off of herb for good... If I were in your shoes, I would start micro dosing... place a tiny, tiny, tiny little bit of bud in a pipe and apply the flame for a micro second... Literally smoke so little that when you blow the smoke out, hardly anything comes out... Do that first thing in the morning, again around 10, and then as needed from there... The point is to never feel the high but still experience the relief...

Rman, I think your dealer is giving you placebos... Edibles provide a much longer, much more intense high that smoke...

I don't think I'm getting placebos(I'm sure I'm not )...I agree with the longer lasting...the edibles can be purchased in different size doses..you can get 5mg 10mg up to 160mg gummies....my personal experience is that the edibles do not hit my brain cells so much as an overall body type of relaxed....I'm not saying there is no high feeling, but not as much or as intense...I'm not a Dr., but I've had a little experience with both, so I'm just relaying what I've experienced....I find the edibles much better for pain relief, and smoke ables for brain relief....take it as my experience....ymmv

I think back to conversations with big Chief about MMJ. His doctor told him to go get some. We had some great phone calls about that. I was telling him DO IT! Why not? Get some relief man. Damn he made me laugh when I was on the road drinking like a complete fool talking to him nightly. Lmao

I miss the guy. I'm sure he's looking down and laughing his ass off.

I was messing around with you man...everyone's experience is clearly different and everyone's reaction changes significantly after more exposure... It sounds like you probably either have a decent tolerance or get some low mg edibles...

For a new consumer, someone without a lot of thc experience, edibles can be absolutely disastrous... The high will be far more intense, and the introduction of 11-hydroxy means a more extreme psychoactive effect... that's just the science of it...

I understand what you mean by it being more of a body than a head high... That generally has more to do with indica vs. sativa than it does method of consumption, but i know what you mean...

"Straight to the dome" was an expression that got thrown around a lot when I was younger... It's the idea of feeling the entire effect immediately... And that's definitely not something you'll ever experience with edibles...

It's like the difference between crashing your car head first at a hundred miles per hour into phucked-up-land verses taking a nice slow drive and finding a nice parking spot on main street... Your destination is technically pretty much the same but the way you view your surroundings is going to be vastly different...

yep! and that's the thing as with any medication from aspirin to opioids to MMJ the affects can be very different than "normal" from person to person. I know one gall that dearly loves the stuff but she gets paranoid as Phug no matter the strain or amount taken in. I know another fellow that gets nauseated every time no matter the strain, amount taken, which, is a contraindication to "normal effects"

I hate using the term experiment especially with any medication but, I will for this I guess. Find a strain that works well for your needs. Find the amount needed to take care of your needs, Find what type of intake works best for your needs.(edibles, smoking, vaping) Your body makes the rules for you and everyone's is different. Me I am an Indica guy. For me it works well for my pain, mood, anxiety and very little goes a long long way for me. If I use sativa I feel good but I want to get up and do chit like a mad man. It does not relax me very much because I want to constantly run, go, and do so, it does not help with my pain as well due to being constantly tense from the running and doing which was my problem to start with. It took trying both strains and finding the amount needed for my bodies rules and honestly I have no clue if this is the "normal" or not. Also, before I started MMJ my average sleep cycle was 2 to 3 hours sleep 24 to 48 hours awake. One to two puffs before I lay down I sleep an average of 7 hours minimum to 9 hours every night and wake up feeling alert, pain free, and active through out the day. Which if I understood Opel right is a contraindication from the normal. This is what got me off the sleep sedative I was prescribed to take every night and off all pain medications I was having to take. Not to mention able to come off of the lorazepam I was having to take for anxiety. My body and its messed up rules I guess 😣 .

Yeah?

From what I am told my issues are not uncommon. A lot of folks stay tensed up all the time. Where the Docs are running into a wall with me is why. With most folks it is due to stress. With me even though I have the health issues due to stroke and heart attack I am really not stressed on a day to day basis. When I say stressed I mean worrying all the time and such. Yet, my muscles stay locked up tight 24/7 so much so that every day when I wake up, my jaw, teeth and gums are so tender from being clenched while I sleep, The left arm is almost limp, and the left shoulder and Peck hurt like a MF. The bad part is ,where I have had my oyster cracked open, those muscles at the peck and left shoulder are always in pain. Not to mention the constant being worn out due to this muscle clinching.

I remember when I was training a Neuro Lab in DC a bunch of new techs. We would have patients come in for an EMG and NCS. When I would run across a patient that had continuous faciculations in some part of the body, the Docs would kind of perk up and get this "Oh mY we got to fix this" attitude. The new techs was like why would the docs get in this bent kind of shape. I would have to sit and explain but over the course of time I got tired of explaining because they should have come out of school knowing this. So I would just tell em, Make a fist and clinch it tight, they would, then I would say, now hold that for 24/7 for the next 3 months. With that it would hit em. "Oh the muscle becomes fatigued and burns it self out" Then of course I would be like DUH!!! lmaooo then through in the "Also this is a symptom of possible ALS" but, even if the person does not have ALS, over time they will lose this muscle if something is not done to give it rest time.

Sorry for the flash back but Meh it is what it is.

I am so glad I do not have to worry with the drug testing any more. If I did my two choices would be taking muscle relaxers every day or making some sort of life change to where I could stay on the MMJ and here is where we hit the brick wall. Taking more big pharma meds or burning the natural plant. Job or a more lenient job. That is kind of where I get pissed at our rules and society. Just because a person has the drug in their system does not mean they are doing it on the job. But, we can hold that discussion for a later date lol.

Apologies for the book. 🍺

I have often thought if my muscle pain was from being tense 24/7 That's interesting. I ran into a wall with my family doctor. I HATE taking muscle relaxers. The next day im in a fog. Cant think clearly. That is a job for me without them. LOL!

I have also thought it was a sensitivity to pain. Makes sense on one hand but doesn't on another. 20 years of doctors prescribing non narcotic pain meds has done nothing for me. I don't want to go down the opiate road. For one its a total pain to get them. Then it requires more and more. I don't want that at all.

If my employer gave a crap about my health he would leave me alone. I don't drive a truck anymore but still have the license and can drive if needed when someone is sick or on vacation.

Oh well time will tell. Seems like it was working witch is unbelievable to me. Something so simple and I cant use it. Rather they force feed me the pharmaceuticals.
