Not sure how these would be, given that at this point they have to be several years old.......probably lost a bit of flavor, as connies don’t exactly benefit from long naps.

I can get a 5er of the payback chavala(?) for 16 and change shipped, did it a couple months ago and thought they were ok, not spectacular, but was shopping for a lower strength quality smoke.

or a 25 box of CT robs for 49 shipped but never had the CT line. have read they are a tick stronger and that would be ok.

The big payback isn't bad... The idea was that it was a quality cigar sold at a bargain price as a thank you to the customers... We carried the 6x60 when i worked at the shop, and while I wouldn't smoke them these days because i despise larger ring gauge cigars, I preferred it to the 5x50...

As for the ct, I smoked them at a time when I smoked a lot of connies... Room 101 makes one of the worst smokeable Connecticut's... It's not an argyle or a rocky patel, but it's really pretty bad... Lots of hints of off flavors... Like wet dog... Or soured dish towel...

Since this thread expanded to cover other offerings over there, I note that they are still rotating the different sizes of the 101 Cool Arrows and Master Collection 3's (along with some other 101 offerings I have not purchased) on sale with shipping, sometimes with a free hat!!!!! Perhaps we should start calling that site "The 101 Place!" :)

Anyway, back to the MB3's I have had several from this batch to see if they match up to previous purchases and, I am happy to say, that they do. The Robustos and Double Robustos are as good as ever and, I have noticed, are great cigars for tossing in my suit coat pocket rushing out the door when I am going to be gone all day or even two. They hold up really well and show no ill effects being out of a humidor for quite some time before smoking.

Had one of the Churchills last night and it was an amazing 2.5 hour smoke. Flavorful, complex, just like the blurbs. No touch-up needed the whole time. Perfect draw. Noticeable Nic-Kick at the end. I can't always devote that long of a time to enjoy a cigar but, when I do, I will be happy to reach for one of these.

Unfortunately, the Torpedoes continue to be, for me, the relative weak-link of this sampler. While they are still pretty good and still worth the $3 price, they simply do not taste the same - or as good - as the other vitolas. There also always seems to be some minor construction issue with them - a hard spot, a void, a wrapper issue, uneven burn, something. Nothing major really, nothing that would make you toss the cigar out, or even make you think you overpaid (at $3) but always something you have to deal with when smoking the Torpedo that distracts you for a bit from simply enjoying the cigar and something that I never see with the others.

So that's it for this edition of the MB3 deal, It's almost 70 degrees outside, thinking of firing up a Cool Arrow.
