I mean... The concept of an integer is somewhat important to understand... (Not super important, but at least a little)....
I think every generation the teachers come up with a different"method" for doing the maths... They always do it because they're trying to make it easier for people (like you) who couldn't understand the methods but understood math... But I think they miss the point every time.

Not for a kindergartener! Learning to be a thorough wiper and hand washer is important at that age...

As a reference Victor, kindergarten is where kids learn to recognize and spell words like "the" and "see"...

I think you're right about every generation of teachers looking for a new way, but I discount the notion that they do it to help... The big thing in ca now is CORE math... BIFI... By idiots for idiots... And the teachers who came up with it weren't trying to help, they were trying to be famous...

Nonsense... The teachers may have wanted to be famous (seems.... Unlikely) but even then, one doesn't become famous from developing a math teaching method which you cannot defend as theoretically easier to learn or in some way making the students better than the generation before. There has to be a rationale which makes sense to enough people for it to become implemented, otherwise you're just a crazy dude in his basement.

There appears to be some debate as to whether common core is as ridiculous as people like to believe it is... I don't know the answer either way.

I do know I don't have a problem with kids learning integers and whatnot alongside learning to wash their hands.... We coddle children too much anyway. How are they going to work in my donut mines by 12 if they don't have the appropriate training????

Rain.....rain.....rain.....won’t stop.
199 is a war zone
101 closed north and south of us...
All da shortcuts trashed with slides...
Chronic fail spot on the way to Gold Beach failed again (after months of repairs this past summer....needs a bridge....but too much $$......cheaper to keep on fixing)

Good thing my wife is a prepper...

Speaking of crazy dude in his basement, did you read any of the numerous interviews given by the physics teacher who invented core??? He worked out of his basement...

Well, I got the results from the NeuroPsychologist. Even though I knew I would not be pleased with the results, it was still a big kick to the nuts.

Visual Memory is zilch- Way below debilitating range
Hearing Memory is zilch- Way below debilitating range
Comprehension is way below average because I can't remember what I read or hear long enough to repeat it back.
server depression in the debilitating range (yah think)
Spacial Disorder was in the debilitating range (So much so the psychologist noted that she was not to pleased with the wife going to work and me left to my own devices alone) The wife and I informed her that she works 3rd and typically I am sedated to sleep and I know not to leave the house alone or cook. That made it a little better I guess.

The one and only thing I did score above average on is coding, whatever the hell that is. I have no idea how that even applies to typical daily life or how to apply that to a skill.

I guess the real chitty part to all this is, I remember being able to do these things with ease. I use to measure the speed of electrical signals for both motor and sensory nerves to the brain, help diagnose issues with both central and peripheral nervous systems, Figure frequency and amplitude of brain waves for christ sake. Yep kick to the old wrinkled sack.

My new saying is, "My favorite color is clear and I play with rocks."

One good thing I guess, She did say that with her report I will not have any issues whatsoever getting disability whenever Social Security decides to hold the hearing date. Which we have been waiting for over a year now for that to happen. Maybe one day I guess after I am dead or living under a bridge it might happen.

Till then, I am going to go play with my rock and clear crayon.

And Yes, I am a whiny bitch today.🤬

Ewok, keeping you in my prayers my brother.

As for social security, contact your local state representative they can help speed up the process, you will be entitled to receive all benefits from the time you applied .

Wishing you all the best my friend.

God bless,
